Indoor Bicycle Trainers

I really want one of these for the winter when it's not safe on the roads.  I was wondering if anyone had one? did they love it or hate it?  what they would have gotten instead? Is there anything for sure to stay away from?

Re: Indoor Bicycle Trainers

  • If you're really into cycling and don't mind spending the money, I'd go for the Kurt Kinetic Road Machine. They cost a little over $300, but they hold their value. My fiance is a hardcore triathlete, and he's been using one for five years...he's actually put 10,000 miles on his bike on this trainer alone! I just started using it. It's incredibly smooth, feels like you're on the road, and you can buy a climbing block for $30 to simulate hills. He has Spinervals videos that are unbelievably effective for improving your biking on a trainer.

Oh, and he had a piece wear out on the trainer. He called the company and asked for the replacement part, and they said they'd sent it right away. He asked how much it would cost, and they said, "free of charge" and the part arrived the next day! They're lifetime guaranteed. I can't even find a used one for under $280 online, so I'm probably just buying a new one.
