Getting in Shape

Trying to GAIN

Hey ladies!

Thought I would introduce myself--I'm getting married in August and have a bit of a different goal from most of the brides on here. I actually trying to put ON a few pounds. I struggled with an eating disorder in the past so it isn't easy, but it's my goal. I actually have a blog at http://www.LifeWithCheeseburgers.com where I'll be writing about wedding planning, relationships, emotional health, and recovery, so check it out if you want. Smile

Nice meeting you all, and here's to getting healthy and looking great on our big days!!!

Re: Trying to GAIN

  • Well, I just typed out a semi-decent post on the thread you started on gaining and then I lost it...dang it!  Anyway, I just wanted to tell you I have been in your shoes and I know how you feel.  If you can't get in to see a dietitian who works with ED patients, I would recommend supplementing with Ensure or Ensure Plus, preferably the latter.  I know, I know...the word "Ensure" brings dread amongst the ED girls but I actually grew to love them - still wish I could afford them in my diet lol.  Just keep eating healthy, balanced meals and for AM and PM snack, supplement with Ensure.  They can be expensive but you can sign up on their website for coupons. If you need anything, feel free to give me a shout. :)

  • I drank a lot of my calories when I was trying to gain weight.  Instead of drinking mostly water, I drank a LOT of chocolate milk.  I also ate a lot of donuts, which, unfortunately, is not the healthiest way to gain weight.
  • I just wanted to say congratulations on your recovery. I think there is more than one way to "get in shape" because to me it is just about living a healthy lifestyle, whatever that means for you. I hope everything goes well for you!
