Financial incentives for going to the gym

So, my friend told me that her health insurance reimburses her for a portion of her gym membership.  She has to go a certain amount of times within a six month period.

Well, I found out that my employer offers an incentive program too.   I have to go to the gym 5 times a month for six months.  If I do that, they will pay about 90% of my gym membership.  That's amazing!  If you haven't done so, check with your health insurance or employer.

In both of our cases, we can go to any gym that we want to.

Re: Financial incentives for going to the gym

  • My employer gives us $25 a month if we belong to any gym or fitness facility.  Which is almost half of my YMCA membership, so it's a nice benefit.

  • I should look into that!

My gym has it's own incentive program. We have to go to the gym at least 15 days a month for 5 consecutive months and the sixth month is free! :)

  • Definitely check with your insurance plans....with my health insurance plan if you go to the gym 12 times a month they will pay $20 of your membership (which at my particular plan means my gym membership is only $6!)

  • My employer pays up to $300 a year for gym memberships. Mine only costs me $240 a year...so it's actually free!  :)
