Are you changing before leaving reception? Suggestions?

Due to the complexity of my dress and undergarmets, my sister and mother have suggested I change at our venue so that the FI doesn't have to figure out how to help me get out of it.

Anybody else doing this?  If so, what did you wear to leave?  I tried to tell my mom that I could wear sweatpnats with BRIDE on the butt in sequins, but she didn't go for that idea...

I didn't change before I left, but our reception was also at the hotel where we were staying the night.

Here's my question for you.  Would your FI be changing as well for your exit?  I think it would look silly for you to change into another outfit (sweatpants or not) if your FI would still be in his tux.

If he's willing to change as well, then I think it would look better.  If I would've changed, I think I still would've worn something nice.  Like maybe a shorter, less formal dress because you will still have photos of you taken.

If you change, I think it should be into a cute cocktail dress (like Donna did) and you should change during the reception, not just for the exit.  You'll get some cute pics and you'll be more comfortable.

If you want to wear your wedding dress for the whole reception, then just leave in it too.  Your FI will figure it out.

I agree w/ Steph...I changed after we did the cake cutting and toasts during the reception. I was more comfortable during the night and it turned out to be a great decision! If you are only worried about if he will be able to help you out of the dress....trust me - he will figure it out ;)

    I'm not changing.

I love my dress, and only get to wear it once in my whole life, so I plan on getting as much use out of it as I can during that one night.

Plus, I want our exit pictures and last dance pictures to be with me wearing my wedding dress. And I don't want to change, change again, and change back. Seems too much trouble.

I think the sweatsuit idea is cute (if you google Bethenny Frankel of the Real Housewives of New York you can see her cute bride sweatsuit), but, the only concern I have about that is the terry sweat suit with sequin monogram is a trendy thing right now, but might not be the kind of photo you want in your wedding album when you show them to your grandkids.  Ok maybe I'm overthinking this.

I did a reception/departure short dress because I really loved my shoes, probably more than I love my dress (I'm a crazy shoe person).  Also, I've always loved the glamour of a cute white suit for a courthouse wedding (like Carrie at the end of SATC movie, the first one http://pics.boards.weddingbee.com/4850.courthouse8-satcmovie.jpg)  But my wedding was in the summer so it was too hot for a jacket type outfit, so I tried to go with classic A-line short dress that has a similar feel.

Probably more information than you wanted to know, but those were my thoughts.  I definitely do not regret the second dress idea, for one I was tired of dragging my long wedding gown around (even with a bustle you still have to be careful in it), and two it made for a good after party outfit so I didn't have to change again when I got back to the hotel.
