Anyone still doing pushups?

I'm wondering if anyone who did the 100 pushup challenge is still doing pushups regularly?  I finished 6 weeks but never did the consecutive 100.  But I still do pushups - 4 sets of 20 each every third day.  I hate every one, but I do it because of how good it is for me.  When I first started, I couldn't do 5.  Then for the first 4 weeks my back was so sore each time.  Now my back is so much stronger and my arms too.  The only bummer is that I feel like my chest (not my breasts) is bigger so shirts are tighter and I think I might have to get new bras.  UGH!

Anyone else still doing them?

Re: Anyone still doing pushups?

  • Sorry I can't say that I'm doing pushups...But I actually looked into the hundred pushup challenge several weeks ago, but have never done it.  It sounds like you had good results with it?

I am definitely thinking about it :)  Any advice/tips for a newbie?  Sorry for hijacking the post ;)
  • My recommendations - Don't be afraid to do a week twice.  You won't finish in 6 weeks, but that's okay.  And don't feel bad if you can't do the 100 straight pushups at the end.  6 weeks is a short amount of time for that.  Pushups are a great exercise.  They work your arms, chest and core.

  • I just finished week 5, with the bare minimium of 46 consecutive pushups. When I started I could only do 12.
By week 4 I had to switch over to only doing it 2x/week because my muscles were still so sore. There was a couple of times that I didn't pass my day, so I repeated.
I don't plan on ever getting to 100...I'm just trying to complete the program.

  • I never finished the full 100 either but like you I do 4 sets of 25 pushups every other morning as a quick wake up work out. They are a great way to wake up in the morning (although I hate every single one also haha). I've noticed a lot more definition in my shoulders and upper back though which is great for my upcoming strapless dress.

  • I'm doing the challenge now. When I started I could barely eek out 4 pushups. I'm on week 2. I had repeat it which is fine. At my last test I was able to do 15 in a row and I'm very proud of myself :) I've always hated pushups. I'm tall and have long arms so it's a long weigh to go. But I am definitely getting stronger and seeing results. I'm excited to complete the program.
