Booked RJC

Hey Girls!

I booked the Ruthe Jackson Center today for my wedding on 11/10/12 next year. I am so excited! Any other RJC brides out there?

Cheryl is one of the main reasons I booked there. She is so sweet and I feel like I can really trust her. I am so excited! We are having our ceremony in the garden and then the reception in both sides of the ballroom. I only have 150 guests so I am worried the ballroom will look bare. I upgraded to the biggest dancefloor though and am planning to do 6 at each table... What do yall think?

Honestly, don't do a giant dancefloor.  It will look empty in pictures.

We have roughly the same size guest list.  We will be seating 8 per round but have them a bit spaced out to give a more open feeling.  I am also working with Noel from Dallas Drape and Light (who Cheryl adores!) to do some draping to close the room in a bit.

Were you able to go to the tasting last weekend?

Yes I was there! Were you? What size dance floor are you using? She mentioned Noel in our meeting, is the draping terribly expensive? I was thinking about doing some arounf the posts in the garden area...

Yep, we were at the tasting.   I am waiting on this third caterer to finish their menu for Cheryl before we choose.  I wasn't super impressed at the tasting sadly.

We won't decide on specifics like dance floor until we have a final guest count.  We will most likely be using the 20x20 though (the largest is 36x36 I think).  As for Noel, here are the quotes I have: (on common usage at RJC, I have a lot of custom stuff as well to choose from)

To drape the gazebo from center to the edges:  $500
To drape the back of th gazebo to cover up the power lines: $100
    Entry to ballroom: $350
Backdrop for sweetheart table with lighting: $500
    Ceiling treatment: $1200
LED Uplighting for large ballroom: $1250
    Pinspots for Cake/Guestbook/etc:$140
    Gobo: $300
    Leko (texture on wall): $150

We got a 27 x 27 dancefloor. I thought that was the largest. We are doing the package deal with 50 per person which includes a generic buffet. It limits our options as far as food but I really want our money to go towards flowers and linens etc. With all those treatments, your wedding is going to look amazing! I'm not sure we can fit that into our budget. We are already over by about 5,000, Opps! My fiance was mad that I rented out both sides of the ballroom but I told him I felt it was a necessity.

Ha, don't feel bad.  We rented the whole place so nothing else was going on.   You don't have to use both sides though.  The large side (with the airwall up) holds 240 comfortably.  You could use the small one as your vendor haven.  Although, if you have the whole venue, the room at the end of the hall (past bathrooms) is great for that.
