Getting in Shape

getting in the swing of things!

i've only got 90 days before our wedding...and i've got to buckle down! i just had a baby 3 months ago, and i've got to lose my baby weight!!!
this morning, i did a crunch gym workout, and this afernoon, i did another one. they're 22 minute works out, and it really did work me out! i guess what i'm trying to figure out is a good meal plan. i know about lean, grilled chicken, but that gets so boring!! are there any other good things to eat that will fill me up enough to where i'm not hungry right after i eat them!? i guess that's my biggest problem, feeling full!

TIA!

  • a) your baby is adorable!
    b) congrats on your upcoming wedding!
    c) yes!  There are soooo many things that are delicious, filling and nutricious!
I stock up on: tofu, frozen chicken breast, greek yogurt, Dave's Killer bread, almond butter or sunflower seed butter, all sorts of fruits and veggies - I tend to get whatever is in season/on sale.  A  good rule of thumb is to shop the perimeter of the store where you'll find fresh produce, meat, dairy, whole grains.  Steer clear of processed foods as much as you can and my favorite website for healthy alternatives when cooking is Hungrygirl.com

Hungry Girl also has a shopping list you can find online with yummy, healthy groceries to stock up on.

  • I hear you about gettin bored with grilled chicken.  Keep in mind that turkey and fish are also great alternatives (pork and beef aren't bad or anything, but they're not as lean).  Diversify your recipes with different spices and sauces.  For example: low sodium chick broth, some dijon mustard and a bit of low fat half and half makes a tasty dijon sauce that is great with pork, turkey, or chicken - and it's way healthier than say a BBQ sauce.

I also like to buy the spice mixes in the baking aisle - like for tacos, etc.  because it gives me quick options for dinner - make the tacos with ground turkey meat instead of beef and if you're feeling REALLY healthy have a taco salad instead of putting it in shells!
