When making our New Year's resolutions this year, my BF and I put losing a few pounds at the top of our list. So we decided to check out Tim Ferriss's "4-hour body" diet.

http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/category/the-4-hour-body/. But here are the basic rules of the diet: Focus on proteins (meats and fish), beans, and vegetables, and cut out carbohydrates and sugars.
We've been at it for about 2 weeks now. My BF has seen the best results so far, losing about 10 pounds. My weight loss has been a bit slower. I've lost almost 4 pounds.
It's too early to know for sure whether the 4-hour body diet will get us to our weight-loss goals. But we feel pretty encouraged at this point!
