Getting in Shape

Magazine Recos?

Does anyone have any recommendations for health-related magazines?

My cousin's school is doing a magazine fundraiser and I feel like I should order something from her.  I already get People, Glamour, and Cosmo -- so I have my fill of trash magazines.

I'm looking for something where I can get recipes, work out tips, etc.  I know that some of them can be filled with fluff so I thought you girls might have some suggestions.

TIA

  • I really like Women's Health. Also, what about the Weight Watchers mag? I've never read it, but that could be good.

I didn't even know there was a Weight Watchers magazine, but I just looked at the list and it's on there!  Has anyone ever used this?  Is it worthwhile?

  • I like Women's health, it's packed with tons of info. Otherwise Shape is another favorite.

  • I'm a big fan of Shape!!
  • I enjoy Runner's World, but if you're not a runner then it's not really worth it... I also read Women's Health.

  • I like Self as well as the others that have already been mentioned.

I even read FI's Men's Health every now and then, LOL.

  • I love shape as well. I also get cooking light, however, I really feel like the recipees are not actually that light at all and are basically still pretty high in calories, so I would avoid that one even though it sounds like it m ight be good.

Honestly, I'm starting to realize that buying magazines (except trashy gossip ones of course) is mostly a waste of money.  You can get all that info on the internet.

The last time I bough a Women's Health I read through it going "k, I know that, and that, and I just read that online last week, k, know that..."   There were a few good looking recipes in it though.

However, in the spirt of supporting your cousin, I'd be inclined to get a subscription to Bon Apetit, or Gourmet, or Fine Cooking.  But I love to cook.

  • I L-O-V-E Real Simple. It's more of a lifestyle magazine, so it has a mix of things from money management to fashion to recipes. The recipes are my favorite part and they publish the nutritional info in each issue. The recipes are easy to make and (usually) healthy.

  • diito raynes! i swear, i keep reading the same articles over and over. i feel like a know-it-all! (which is 100% untrue) :]

that said, the one that tosca reno produces/co-produces... i believe it's either 'eating clean' or 'clean eating' (i know, i know), either way - it has great clean recipes!
