Getting in Shape

  • My favorite thing is a long brisk walk with my Ipod. I probably don't get the most results from it but mentally it is great for me. When I start my morning like that it gets me going and keeps me on track for a workout and eating right and totally reduces my stress! My fiance even says that - when I get grumpy he tells me I need to take my walk. =)

  • Best results for losing inches and toning would be bootcamp/pump class.  Best results for cardio and endurance is cycling and spinning (in winter).

Heavy weight lifting.  I've never seen such changes in my body before.

  • I second Boot Camp, although I don't know if you are talking about the same thing. I love Barry's Boot Camp. I think the best cardio is always running or elliptical. I am not a big fan of running, bad knees, but I always try to work on the elliptical at least once a week. Remember to eat right though, you will not get any where if you are eating too many calories.

  • Cardio I would say spinning/sometimes called cycling classes.  AWESOME
I updated my bio on 06/24/10, however if you want to see my planning bio you have to go to www.lizardlipsplanningbio.weebly.com because I am having a hard time making it clicky!
  • INSANITY!!!  I think its great.  No need to go to the gym just workout at home.  The hour goes by so quick and you are dripping with sweat 10 minutes in.  I'm about 1/3 of the way through the 60 days so I'm not sure of the results just yet.
  • i've seen awesome results from running - i started running seriously (or should i say, consistently) last fall and have lost 17lbs from it. however, toning-wise, i'm getting pretty nice results from my bootcamp (of course, there are different ones - mine is run in a martial arts studio, so a lot of what we do is kickboxing and karate-related). i would say to try something that's going to be a challenge - if you find yourself being pushed a good deal, you've found a good program, whether it's a class or dvd or just something you're doing on your own.

  • I would say that running is great for losing pounds.  I also enjoy swimming and do a few dance classes a week too.  But the most dramatic results I have seen is as a result of a pole dancing class I take.  It is 2 hours a week and fabulous for core and toning arms as well as flexibility plus it is fun.  Would definitely recommend people try it, there are studios all over the place.
  • My workout routine is as follows:

Monday 5AM, gym with personal trainer
    Tuesday 630PM, Kickboxing (AWESOME!!!)
    Weds 6PM, bikeriding with FI
    Thurs 630PM, Kickboxing
Friday 5AM, gym with personal trainer
Saturday 9AM, walking or running with Ipod
Sunday Swim with FI or my day off
  • P90X is the best for changing your musculature fast, I find. I love doing it, though like Tony says I sometimes " ...HATE it...but I love it.", hahaha. I like to try and add on an hour of cardio, as P90X is great for your muscles, it's not the biggest calorie burner overall, I don't think. Put cardio and that together and WOW does it work!
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, WHOA. Lois, this is not my Batman glass."
  • I've recently started a bit of p90x... I'm doing the abs and arms in addition to yoga and running, so not the full program, but I've already lost weight and my arms look great (strapless dress, here I come!).  Tony gets obnoxious after you do the video a few times, but I just turn the sound almost all the way down.
  • boxing, spin, weight lifting.
