So my wedding is about 2.5 months away right now. I've done a decent job of losing some weight (not a whole lot, but enough to be happy about it).
Well today, I went to the doctor because of bronchitis. She prescribed me an inhaler (ok, i've taken it before. works well), antibotics that aren't supposed to interfere with my birth control (woo hoo!) and prednisone for reducing inflamation (it causes weight gain and it DOES interfere with birth control, among many unpleasant side effects)
Here's the problem. About 2 years ago I had to take prednisone due to a torn tendon for 3 weeks (with tapering) when NSAIDs were irritating my stomach and not working well enough. I gained about 30-40 pounds. My weight shifted (even in that short period of time) to my face, stomach, and the back of my neck. It took a long time to get it back to normal (I still have a little bit of that hump on my neck...although I finally got rid of the moon face). I also had horrible mood swings and depression.
And the doc prescribed me TWICE the amount I was on then without tapering, although for a shorter duration. I'm worried that if I gain weight I won't be able to get it off in time for my wedding. I have the dress already, and I can't afford to gain a bunch of weight with it. Even 10 pounds is not gonna be good, when it fits PERFECTLY right now.
Should I take it? I'm too scared to take it, so I've just been taking NSAIDs, which seem to be working ok with the inhaler (I checked...no interactions). Has anyone else had to take prednisone before? If so, what are your experiences?
I'm fairly active, eat pretty healthy, and am still trying to lose about 10 pounds before the big day. (thats at a healthy rate of 1 pound a week).
