Getting in Shape

Sound off about your favorite workout gear please!

What do you love?

i've lost a bit of weight and am finding that my old favorite brands don't fit well anymore. (even in new sizes) So i'm definitely going to need a whole new exercise wardrobe soon. (fingers crossed!)

The only big things for me are that they need to be good for running in and be big boob friendly.

So what's your favorite outfit? Brand? Material? Style?

What do you hate?

Re: Sound off about your favorite workout gear please!

  • I love my capri leggings from ON. I'm not sure what the material is but the waist band goes up high so I feel more secure and dont feel like I have to tug on them all the time. I haven't found shirts that I'm in love with. I love my wicking Bondi Band that H got me. It saves my bangs from sweat and my forehead isn't breaking out as much.

Ooh. I forgot about bondi bands! Everyone was raving about them a while back. I should get one of those too!
  • I LOVE them. I have a zebra one that I wear around when I really don't want to do my hair too.
I'm sure when I'm not working this summer they'll be an everyday staple in my wardrobe.
  • I'm actually a big fan of Old Navy sports bras and running shorts. Very comfortable and they have that wicking feature. Now, I have little boobs so the bras are good for me but might not be for others!

What do I hate? Running with my iPod touch and it's bulky arm band. I have Nike+ and used to use it with my iPod Nano. The center button was how I could start, stop, hear my times, etc. It was a one push wonder. Now, with the goddamn "swipe to unlock" feature of the iPod touch and it's larger arm band, I'm miserable with my Nike+. MISERABLE.

I love Gap sports bras, but for more support I highly recommend Lululemon -- it is made very well and is worth spending money on.

I hate EVERYTHING about Lululemon. I don't find their stuff worth the price, and their business practices are really skeezy. Barf.

Most of my running clothes come from Oiselle (http://www.oiselle.com/shop/). They are also pricey, but the stuff is pretty fab. I have large breasts for my size, and their shirts work OK for me, but I can tell they are made for people who are smaller-breasted than I am. Love their shorts (I wear the "Lori" and my sister swears by the "Roga") and "knickers" (capri running tights).

In terms of bras, my go-to is the Athena by Moving Comfort. I tend to go for back-clasp bras (rather than pull-over) as I have a large cup size and small band size. I know a lot of people like Moving Comfort in general.

    1st. Now I want this: http://www.oiselle.com/shop/running-shorts/bum-wrap-skirt

2nd. i'll be shopping for one of those bras. I HATE pull-over sports bras with a passion.
  • Dang it, Anna, you quoted a post with a there/their error. I promise that I know the difference!

i don't know what you mean at all ;)
  • I'm a big fan of anything made by Reebok and Under Armour. I know it's two totally different price ranges, but the capri leggings from both brands are great! The dry fit shirts from Reebok are a little more comfortable than Under Armour because they aren't as tight, and they do just as well when you work up a good sweat :) I recently lost 50 pounds, and I'm moving down in sizes in these workout clothes and I'm loving them. Now if I could just find a good sports bra....
  • I love Nike Dri Fit tops & sports bras. I haven't found any pants that totally wow me yet :(

As for sports bras- and call me crazy if you wanna- but I love the C9 Racerbacks at Target. They're super cheap, keep eveything where it should be, and they come out with new colours all the time. Love.
  • I usually only wear Nike for running. They have awesome cold weather gear.

Also, non-clothing, I love Body Glide. Stops the chaffing. :)

I have a VIP membership at roadrunnersports.com which gives great discounts.

My favorite running capri and long pants are both from Target - the Champion line, believe it or not. I've tried on a few pairs but I *must* have a drawstring/tie on my pants, and many don't.

I run with the Ultimate II Running Belt by iFitness. LOVE IT. It holds my iPhone, keys, ID, chapstick, etc. It is super soft, stays in place, and is really comfortable. I wore it for the first time during a half marathon and had no problems.

Just got this new shirt for running and I love it. Going to order more colors:

    My favorite socks:
  • I lost 90 lbs through the help of weight watchers and learning to LOVE exercise. Now if I go more than a day without doing SOMETHING active even if its just walking my dogs I go insane. I have now accomplished my first triathlon, several half marathons, and I am also diving into rock climbing. I will list some of my favorites

Headbands - I own a few bondi bands and like them but I REALLY love glamheadbands.com. I have super thin fine hair and these headbands WILL NOT SLIP! I recently wore one during my last half and it never moved!

Tops: I'm not too picky as long as its some sort of sweat wicking fabric and not SUPER baggy. I work out harder when I feel I look better and thus feel better about myself

Shorts: Nike Tempo Shorts - hand down the best!!!!! You can pick them up at good deals at a nike outlet and I also find them at places like tj maxx marshalls and gordmans

cold weather clothing: UNDERARMOUR COLD GEAR! - I hate wearing labels for the sake of wearing a label and thus usually will not buy apparel like Nike, UA, etc unless they are onsale. I spent 50 dollars on cold gear running tights and another 40 on a mock turtle neck. By far the best investments I have ever made, the pants have lasted me 4 winters and my oldest mock turtleneck is reaching its 6th birthday!

Shoes: Personal preference. Before you pick up an activity make sure you go in to an ACTUAL athletic store and get fitted for shoes (particurally impt if you are running or walking). and remember the color and price of the shoe for you has nothing to do with the way they will feel on your feet!

    HOPE THIS HELPS!
