Getting in Shape

30 day shred

Has anyone done the 30 day shred?  Did you see results?  I would like to lose about twenty pounds but haven't worked out all summer.  I was thinking the 30 Day Shred would be a good way to ease my way back into working out and then gradually add more cardio/weight lifting.  Advice?  TIA :)

  • I did it a while back...The only thing I didn't personally care for was the repitition.

    She suggests you do it everyday, but I definitely disagree with that because you're only ever doing the same thing...working all the same muscles. 

    I would suggest using the 30DS workout and another workout(s) to alternate between because I don't think it's a good idea to continuously work the same muscle groups day after day without giving them some sort of break.

    It's fine if you can tolerate the repetition. But you can find much better workouts online. Here's an example of one:

    Just like anything, you'll get results from Jillian if you start from doing nothing at all.
  • Thanks for the advice!  All of that makes sense...I think I will look for another video to supplement every other day.

  • I think its a great workout.  It's the toughest 20 minute workout I know.  She suggests you do it everday for 30 days.  It's a challenge but worth trying if your schedule permits.  I made it 20 days before my schedule messed things up, but I lost about 7lbs in that 20 days, my body was more toned and I was stronger. 

    Now I do 30 day shred about three times a week, somedays its good to double up just for added endurance.

  • I'm shredding now, and I can't do it every day because my thighs were killing me after day one for two days, and now my calves are rock hard and won't relax!

    I definitely suggest stretching more than what she does at the end of the video.

    In addition to using the video, I would do other workouts at the gym as well.

  • I work out to the 30 day shred 2-3 times a week. I also add at least 30-60 mins of cardio (5-7 times a week). I also get bored ofJuilian's workout because she wants you to do it everyday so I add another DVD during the week to change it up.
