Catheter in the kidney has me out of the game

I have been doing so good on the diet and working out until all this crap came down with my kidney. To make a long dramatic story short HUGE stone in the left kidney, killed a portion of it. University of Michigan hospital is debating on whether to take the whole thing or just clean it out cut out the dead stuff and see if it fills back up again.

So here I sit day after day trolling the knot boards and facebook stalking. I think i have seen every single pictures that everyone of my friends has taken lol \\

The fh took away my ankle weights and wont let me get up and do anything anyway. I feel like im getting rounder by the day hehe but at least i get all of the popsicles i can handle *sigh*

  • Sorry to hear you are under the weather! :(

Although, it is probably good that you cannot workout right now, it sounds like your body needs to use its energy to help heal!  I would personally just watch what you eat...

Don't scarf down big macs and super-sized french fries right now, and just make healthy choices :)  Lean meats, good veggies, etc.

I hope that they decide what they want to do for you soon, and that you heal quickly!  {{{{hugs}}}}  You'll be back in the game before you know it...Just take it slowly and don't push your body too hard because that can set you back even further!
  • Oy, that's no good!  Ditto jenny on making smart choices with your food to keep you "in the game".

If you want, I can pass on some fitness/nutrition blogs I like.  Going back and reading their archives will take up some time. ;)

  • Wow, get better soon! This is serious stuff! Keep taking care of yourself :)
  • aw, I am so sorry!  Kidney stones are so painful - I got my first bout of them the day I got engaged.  They went untreated for a week and I ended up in the ER.  But mine have nothing on your big one that damaged your kidney!

Like the other posters said, just watch your diet and make smart choices.  Read some books or download some TV shows from Netflix.  Or troll around the boards and join in conversations.  It helps pass the time.

I hope you are feeling better soon!!

  • I am what they call a "breeder" lol I've had at least 5 stones in the past 2yrs (one right now) I was never aware that they could damage your kidney like that! You have my sympathy and I hope you are back on your feet soon. I know how they can really knock you down so good luck!
  • I'm sorry to hear that! Take it easy. You need it.
  • i have had kidney stones since i was a senior in high school (2003) at the time i had 7 in one and 4 in the other. we had to do emergency surgery to remove the one blocking one kidney and about a year later i passed one naturally. i never would have let it go this long without getting taken care of if i had had insurance. im telling you ladies at the very least make sure you have emergency insurance coverage alot of things can be avoided even with the least amount of coverage.
