I hate Kay Jewelers

Got my wedding band from there. 3 weeks after the wedding, a diamond fell out. Had to take it in and get it replaced.

Guess what happened yesterday, less than 5 days after I got it back. The same one, or the diamond next to it fell out.

WTH??? The ring is going to spend more time getting fixed than on my dang finger at this point. It's free to replace, but this is getting ridiculous.

Do I have any recourse?

Because Bill bought from one of their sister stores, I will tell you probably not.  However, which Kay's are going to?  We started taking my ring to another Jared and got better service and they completely saved the company in our eyes.

My rings are from Kay's and I prefer the one in Arlington over the one in Lewisville. In Lewisville they are rude. Their ring cleaner is on the edge of the store near the outside facing towards the mall. The sales lady one day threw my ring in and walked away to help someone else. Seriously, what is stopping someone from going and opening the top of it and stealing rings.

Sorry Marissa - that stinks.  :(

PS - Do you have your updated review for your vendor?!

I guess...I just need to get around to writing it...I was also hoping to hear some feedback from plgmgr (sp?) first, but she hasn't responded to my email yet. I think she knows the caterer personally.

I've had that problem with the jeweler we bought my E-ring from. One of the stones fell out, took it to be fixed, not even a week later it fell out again.

There's nothing you can do, because it's under a warranty so if you take it elsewhere, your warranty will be voided. You could sell your band, and buy a new one from somewhere else if you are unhappy with the service, but that's really the only action you can take.

We have thought about selling mine after the wedding, and buying a new one somewhere else where we will trust their service and won't have to be bringing it in constantly. I'm still undecided, because this ring is sentimental to me, and we bought my band from the same place. It's very unique and not something you can buy anywhere, so what we would have to do is take this ring and have it custom made from another store, and then sell this one so I would have a duplicate ring from another jeweler that we can trust.

Good luck, I know it's frustrating.

    MLandCJ,
That's crazy!!!  We stopped going to the Jared in Lewisville because they wouldn't give my then FI (now DH) a round ring.  The band was uneven and too thin in a few spots.  We now go to the one in Southlake because it's near where we both work.

We had a horrible time at the Kay Jewelers at Ridgmar Mall. Not only did it take the bimbo behind the counter 45 minutes to say anythign to us (we were the only ones in the store) but she refused to offer any kind of service. Another lady came out from the back and refused to acknowledge us, and later a man came out, looked right at us, and ignored us when we asked for help.

Once we finally got someone to talk to us, I coudln't take the condescending tone in their voice or lack of interest, so we left. 6 different jewelry stores later and we settled in at Helzberg. No issues yet, and we got a great deal!
    Clever girl.

I know it's far from the best part of town, but the Kay in Town East Mall is pretty friendly about 95% of the time, I'd say. I've gotten quite a bit from there, and they take good care of their customers.

    Good luck!

    JulieBug,

I will say this about Arlington after reading your post. I went to get our wedding bands re-sized and I had FI pick them up. When he brought them home I was almost in tears they were such a shitty job. FI band was brushed white gold and when it came back in some areas it was shiny. It is like they made it bigger with out fixing the brushed part. Then my wedding band literally had a flat spot on it. I sent both of the back because they were both horribly done. They came back perfectly the second time. They looked brand new! My engagement ring is uneven in some spots, but I hated being with out it the first time so I will just wait to after the wedding to get it fixed.

Everytime I go in there, someone says hello to me or acknowledges me. They are very helpful.

I get irritated just thinking about Lewisville.

I don't think I would of chosen Kay's personally. FI and I didn't even discuss rings but a few times before he popped the question. I thought I had more time to be honest before he was going to propose. I didn't think it was going to happen for another 6 months.

What a terrible situation.  So sorry to hear.

Personally, my FI and I have had fantastic luck at Helzberg Diamonds (specifically, the North East Mall, Hurst location).  We've been happy with quality, design and service.

    Best of luck!

Seemed to be better today at Collin Creek. They said if it happens a 3rd time, I can probably get a replacement

A lot of companies do have a lemon policy.  I know Best Buy used to if you bought their extended warranty.
