Getting in Shape

any ideas:)

I am newly engaged:) Me and matt have been running and trying to eat a lil better when we are together.... I have cellulite im happy with my weight but i cant tone fast enough... any tips for me?????

Re: any ideas:)

  • The longer it takes to take the weight off, the more likely you are going to be to keep it off.  Just keep making good food choices and being active.  And not just when you are together - all of the time.  Be patient and you will see results.

To tone your arms, see the 100 pushup challenge posts on the boards.
If you are stuck otherwise, I suggest hiring a trainer to get you started. You wouldn't need them for a long time but they can suggest a starting point or a plan.
Another suggestion is weight classes at your gym. Most gyms have a class that is geared towards weight lifting. I've been meaning to try the one out at my new gym, but when I was at my old gym, my muscles were much more defined, and I felt much more stronger. The benifits of a class is that it holds you accountable when you attend weekly.
Edit: You might not be able to see your mucles (especially in places like your abs)  if you have a higher percentage of body fat. For this you will need to focus on your diet, and cut down fat intake in general, as well as exercise. You can do it!
  • I'm using Palmer's cocoa butter for pregnancy & weigh loss lotion. I've lost 48lbs, so it's helping to tighten up my skin just a bit where cellulite is prevalent.
  • I think they are right.  About losing some excess fat first.  My lower body area is where I feel I need to tone up the most.  Mostly the inner thighs, glutes, etc.  I believe to see good results it would make sense to try to lose some fat by cardio.  I plan on running and jogging and started doing it recently..

I need to increase how often I do it.. (Right now about once a week).  But those times I did, and after I stretched, I felt a lot better and it's good to stretch and feel your muscles developing.

Running is the greatest because you can burn fat and build muscle at the same time.  Yoga is something else I used to do all the time, and now I gotta start again.  I read in magazines how Jennifer Anniston stays so trim and all she really does is running (cardio) and yoga (toning).  She doesn't do much of anything else.. or at least that is what the magazine said.  Emphasized the running and yoga.  As soon as you feel you lose enough fat,  you can even add some lunges, squats, ab workouts, etc.

Or you can do these simulatenously as the cardio.. But I think it's best to focus on a good cardio workout to really help out with the fat loss/muscle development.. and then further your toning using the weights or free weight exercises like the abs/squats/ arm exercises etc

The best way to burn fat and "tone"muscle is to do a good mix of cardio and weight training and not with the little pink weights that alot of places like to push at women. It's really really really hard to bulk up, even for men and women have alot harder time so don't be afraid of that either.

http://www.stumptuous.com/ has alot of good ideas, especally for women and my trainers in the military used alot of similar techniques, if you can get in for even one personal training session and have them come up with a well balanced routine for you and you'll see results within a few weeks if you put the effort in :) Also strength training helps you increase your base metabolic rate so you burn more calories over an extended period after you lift weights.
  • thanks:) I've been running and doing squats lately too and i guess i should say i was cheating at first because my eating habits were not all that great lol
