Low Motivation! Anyone tried the new Weight Watchers?

So..I have about 13 months til my wedding. Right now I am at 201 and I have lost about 30lbs in the last year. I want to get down to about 170. I did weight watchers when I lost the 30 lbs but quit going because I stopped losing the weight. I also exercise 3-4 times a week when work and school permits. Being a full time employee and student doesn't always let me hit the gym every night!

The fiance thinks its stupid to go back to weight watchers and pay them every week, but honestly it made me feel like I was accountable to someone every week when I had to pay the money. Anyways, is anyone doing the new weight watchers plan? I've read both positives and negatives about it so I want to see what everyone thinks.

  • I'm a 3rd time member to Weight Watchers and I LOVE the new program!  FREE Fresh FRUIT!  I find the meetings the best I had a back week and Ik now that the meeting helped me keep my weight gain at one week instead of like one month!

  • Hi Stacey,

Yes, it's totally worth it!  I was on the plan several years ago and had great success and did a decent job of keeping the weight off.  When I got engaged in December I decided to rejoin WW to learn the new points plan and am glad I did!  It is many of the same things you learned the first time around, but I found I needed a refresher on what I learned the first time.  Portion sizes, etc.  Also, free fruits and veggies makes a huge difference in your daily allowance.  Anyway, I would definitely recommend it.  Good luck!

Soon2b, you have a good amount of time until your wedding, so why not try out the new WW for a month or two and see if it gets you motivated and if you see some weight loss from it.  Even if that doesn't work out you'll still have 11 months to find something that does!

I'd suggest trying it for 2 mo to give yourself time to get accustomed to it and enough time to show some results.

I did WW the past 2 summers, and I agree about the feeling you get and being held accountable. Some people can take what they learn from WW and move on, never having problems. Some can't. I'm realizing I need the weigh-ins and meetings to help keep me motivated. I plan on signing up in a few weeks once I am home from school. SO EXCITED ABOUT FRESH FRUIT!!! I eat a banana every day and it used to use 2 points! When you only get 25 that is a lot!!!!

  • I've been back on plan since last March, and was really excited for Points+!  WW is the only thing that has ever helped me loose and maintain any weight. I've slacked at tracking for the past week and it's shown at the scale. Yes, paying stinks, but once you get to goal and Lifetime you don't have to pay anymore and I for one need that accountability!
  • I am doing it right now and really like it.  In 7 weeks I am down 17 lbs.  Going to the meetings and having to get on the scale is what keeps me on track.
  • I did weight watchers so much that even though I haven't in years, the things I learned are part of my daily habits. It's hard to put a price on getting healthy, so I suggest you try WW again.
  • I am a first time member with the online program and Im loving it! I can track on my Iphone and because its so easy I have no excuse not to. Its great for me, I don't go to meetings and am still loosing :)
