Getting in Shape

NGIS related - dress shape

So I will be going dress shopping next week and have a variety of styles and shapes bookmarked since I don't know what will look good on me. Does anyone else have broad shoulders? What styles do you think ended up looking the best on you? Even if I loose a few, my shoulders will stil be broad compared to my frame.

Re: NGIS related - dress shape

  • I have broad shoulders, and I think it helps a lot to leave them bare - anything covering my shoulders makes me look closer and closer to a football player..

  • If you have nice broad shoulder, which I also have, show them off!! :)  I chose a strapless gown.

I also have a cousin that has nice shoulders and she got a halter dress. It all depends on how you want them to look.

  • Wow, I think the complete opposite... I have somewhat broad shoulders and strapless looks horrible on me (not just wedding gowns, everything strapless).  I stuck with trying on only haulter top and strapped dresses. You can find a variety if different shaped dresses with straps, but the majority of wedding gowns are strapless.  Think about what tops/shirts look best on you and try to mirror that cut.

  • I have broad shoulders as well.  I suggest strapless, but it really varies from person to person.  Halter tops made my shoulders look even broader.  Even my mom, who was completely against me wearing a strapless, changed her mind after one halter top.  Go ahead and try on a variety of silhouettes, but I have a feeling you'll end up with a strapless.
