Getting in Shape

Arms

My wedding is 16 days away and my arms still do not look how I want. They are still kind of rounded (I am assuming b/c of fat?) and there isn't too much muscle definition. Any good arm workouts you all recommend?

Re: Arms

  • Tricep kickbacks - high reps with 2-3lb hand weights
bicep curls - same as above
will put some tone and definition into upper arms.
    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • Kick up your cardio to remove the fat.

As far as exercises, I like tricep dips and pushups in addition to the usual bicep curls and lifts.
  • how much cardio do you all do a week?

If you really want to get muscle definition, you need to do strength training with heavier weights.  I'm finally starting to see good definition in my arms, and I'm up to using 25-35 lb dumbbells for most of my exercises.  For shoulder work, I use 80-90 lbs.  2-3 lb hand weights probably won't cut it.  Lol.  It does work though, I was trying on dresses last week and another bride in the store tell me my arms look spectacular!  And just three months ago, I thought they looked terrible.
But you'll also want to do a lot of cardio to lose some fat, otherwise you won't see the muscle you're building underneath.  Try to do at least 15-20 minutes of really high intensity work, 5-6 days a week.  I like to do sprints on a treadmill (walk 30 seconds, sprint for a minute, then repeat over and over).  You can get a good workout in a short amount of time that way!
Good luck with your wedding!  :-)
  • I would get some 8lb. dumbells & try this: 1)Do basic curl when you get to top position pause then 2) extend arms up then pause again & 3) bending elbows lower dumbells behind head then pause & extend arms back up to previous position, then lower back to starting curl position. This is one rep! repeat 8-10 times. I like to do these during commercial breaks.
