Getting in Shape

alcohol and weight loss

Has anyone had luck/results from limiting or completely eliminating alcohol from their diet for a longer period of time (say 2-3 months)

I have been trying to limit my pop intake....1 or less diet cokes a week.

I just discovered these boards on theknot!  so fun

  • Haha weight loss luck...yes! Mental Sanity w/out my wine...not so much...
Alcohol slows down your metabolism and generally when people drink, their inhibitions towards food lowers, they get hungrier and wind up eating more, especially things they wouldn't normally eat (like that bag of chips and ice cream).

  • Honestly, I wasn't finding that I got results unless I cut it out. Once I did, the lbs starting coming off.

After a while, I had 1 glass of wine every 2-3 weeks and I still kept on track.

  • I've never been a big drinker, so cutting it out is no problem for me. But you can think of it like any other "treat" that has calories and no nutritional content. Like a cupcake, or a milkshake. If you can fit it in and you don't mind, then have a drink. If you don't want to waste calories on something that doesn't give you any benefit, then cut it out.

  • Thank you everyone!
