  • Welcome Sjmiller!  20 lbs by Nov 3 is totally doable if you work hard.  Good job on the working out!  Don't forget, weight loss is 80% what you eat and 20% exercise.  If you need any help sorting out your food or meal plans, post on the board and I'm sure we can give you a hand.

    Weigh Loss Goals:  10 lbs
    Fitness Goals:  Every year my fiance does a half marathon in Solvang in May, and it was after this race weekend this year that he proposed, I've done up to 10ks before, but always thought a half-marathon would be too far.  My goal is to work up to joining him for the race next May.  I haven't run in a while so I'm starting the C25K program and working my way up!
    Favorite Cake Flavor:  The more chocolatey the better
    If you lurk, how long have you?:   What does this mean exactly?
    Anyhthing interesting about yourself:  I've always loved visiting Europe, and now I'm engaged to a Brit!
    Any Question you might have:  Wondering if anyone has suggestions for getting out of bed in the morning for that workout.  It's the thing I struggle with most of all and the snooze button is my frienemy.

    Weight loss/fitness goals: I'd like to lose about 20-22 pounds in order to be back at the weight I prefer to be. I'll be doing a fair amount of weight training in order to (hopefully!) achieve a toned look! 

    Favorite cake flavor: I'm an amateur baker and obsessed with cake... I do love chocolate, but I'm thinking a vanilla cake with berries will be present at my wedding!

    If you lurk, how long have you: I wouldn't let myself join the knot until I got engaged (although now that I am here, I have no idea why I did that to myself). So, I joined on May 11 and have been reading the boards since then... not quite a month!

    Anything interesting about yourself: I am obsessed with The Wire. Is that interesting?

  • Marissa:  Getting out of bed to workout can be tough!  You just have to find your personal trigger that makes it worth doing.  Mine is simple.  If I want to go back to sleep, I just tell myself "get up or stay fat".  9 times out of ten I get up.

    moose:  any thyroid condition can make weight loss tough.  Some of the ladies on this board are fighting the battle and winning so I assure you it can be done.  You've just got to ba a touch more careful about what you eat.

  • Oh!  I missed this one but have been posting for almost 2 weeks so...

    Wedding Date: 7.5.13

    Weight Loss/Fitness Goals: Get back to running half-marathons after being injured for 9 months.  Waiting for my foot surgery to completely heal, so swimming in the meantime.  I hope to be about 10 pounds lighter and have run 2-3 halfs by my wedding date next summer.

    Favorite Cake Flavor: No real favorite - but cake is good!

    Weight loss/fitness goals: I have lost 45 pounds since September of last year. My goal is to lose another 30 pounds before my wedding date.

    Wedding date: May or June of 2014

    Weight loss/fitness goals: Drop a few dress sizes.  I'm a size 12 right now, I'd like to get to a size 6 (would like to lose about 30 lbs all together).  Get back to being able to run 3 -5 miles easily.  Have a goal of 40 pushups and 1 bodyweight pullup by the end of the year!

    Favorite cake flavor: Lemon or Rasberry filling

    Anything interesting about yourself: I was in excellent shape about a year ago, and then was involved in a serious car accident (note - F-250s and Mazda3s do not make good bedfellows.  My hatch ended up in my backseat).  I ended up with an injured back which required PT for a few months, and then limited me in what I could do.  That combined with an insane school schedule (second year of vet school...Even the PT gave me a pass), led to me putting on more weight than I've had in years.  I've been struggling to get myself on the right track with food and motivation to lose the weight AGAIN that I worked so hard to take off in the first place!  I need something to kick my butt into gear  and the ability to avoid the food that's soooo bad for me!

    Weight loss/fitness goals:  Lose the 100 lbs I have gained since my oldest son had a bad snowboarding accident in 2009.  He is ok, life has calmed down, and I have met my absolute soulmate.... all that's missing is my healthy body!  I am 5'1 and want to get from 210 back to 110 for my dream wedding.
    Favorite cake flavor:  I will take a little nibble of each... :-)

    Wedding date: we are thinking the weekend after july 4th of 2013

    Weight loss/fitness goals:  Ultimately I'd like to be 153 pounds again and maintain it for a year,  I am on my third (and hopefully last) quest to lose the weight and keep it off.  I've gone from a in size from 15 to an 11 (teen), went up to 14 then down to a 6 and then back up to 16.  I decided to do something about it when I hit 180 and now I am stuck at the 170 mark.

    I started this quest in January and hurt my hip so its been on again off again but, I have maintained the weight loss and encouraged myself to do so by giving up my larger sized pants.  When they fall off I used to hold on to them "just incase"  Now I don't do that.  I donate them to Goodwill and wear the ones that are supposed to fit, if they don't fit then I need to work out.  No more back sliding. (I hope since I just realized the pants I have now are a little too big and my regular ones are getting tight so time to get back to 30 min a day.)


    Favorite cake flavor:  Butter but my wedding cake will have something else.

    If you lurk, how long have you:  I haven't I signed up about 3 days after I got engaged when I realized I had to plan a wedding and had no idea how to go about it.

    Anything interesting about yourself:  I have a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts.  So I was a science major who knew how to write at least that's what career counselors used to tell me.


    Questions: Has anyone else done the yo yo like me and has anyone been succesful of maintaing on the low weight.

    Anything interesting about yourself: I got my dress in October 2011, final fitting in November. Dumb, I know, but I didn't think I could gain any more weight. WRONG. After a ridiculously stressful year, I do NOT fit into my dress. And there's less than 60 days left. PANIC PANIC PANIC.

    Any question you might have: How do I get rid of all this extra ME without harming my liver/kidneys/etc? My dress really is only tight below my boobs, above my stomach... which is a weird place to be fat, since it's the thinnest part of my body... how do I lose inches there?

  • Imf:  Weekends can be totally tough.  Make sure you're not being too strict during the week and depriving yourself.  If you allow yourself a bit of chocolate or ice cream (all can be worked into a healthy diet) through the week, then you may be less likely to overdo it on the weekend because heck, you can have it any time.

    Peanut: Sadly, you cannot spot reduce fat.  Hop on a site like SparkPeople, track your calories closely, throw in a little exercise to tone the areas you want, and it should start coming off.

    KatydidL I think the trick is to really make it part of your routine.  Schedule time to do it and try to make it fun.  I've got a few exercise routines that are just basic like crunches, push ups, planks, light lifting.. all of those I can do while watching a tv show I like.
  • Hi! Wedding Date: 5/25/13. It's a bit odd to actually see that in writing. Yay! Fitness Goals: maintain my weight, build strength. I have a partially paralyzed foot due to an accident, so getting in shape can be a challenge. One can only do so much elliptical time before going crazy. ;) Wedding Cake Flavor: I'm a celiac and have other food allergies, so fiancé and I will have a berry gf, preservative-free berry cake, but that's cruel to serve to guests. We're having a table of sweet options (fruits, pies, various cupcakes, etc). I've been lurking here for a few weeks. Interesting fact: fiancé Lives in Australia. I summer/winter with him, so I'm not going to see temps above 60 Fahrenheit for about two years. No questions right now. I'm pretty quiet.

    Weight loss/fitness goals: Lose at least 50 lbs.  But more importantly just to be healthier than I have been.
    Favorite cake flavor: I'm pretty simple, white cake with white buttercream frosting.  Maybe strawberries in the layers.

    Anything interesting about yourself: I just turned 40, I have a son who just turned 20 and I'm getting married for the first time.  I lot of milestones this year.  :)
