Workouts for the workout newbies?

I really need to start working out again.  I was very active in high school and played any sport I could.  Now, five years later I am trying on dresses and realize that I have gone up from a size 4 to a size 10/12.  HELP! I want the motivation and stamina I had five years ago but cant seem to find it.  Does anyone have any good recommendations for BEGINNER workouts.  My FI and I ordered and started p90x and while I like and could see the results right away, I gave up on it after two weeks because I was so discouraged at the large amount I couldn't do...I would like to start it again, but not until I am confident that I can do majority of each disk.  Anyone else feel this way? How do I get back to becoming fit? Advice?Tips? Suggestions?
