Getting in Shape

Best get-in-shape-fast routine that works for you??

I can't follow along with a workout video, I've tried the Jillian Michaels ones and while she does kick my butt, I find myself extremely bored after the 3rd day of watching the same video.

What are some things that have worked for you?

  • When I feel like I don't have time or I feel like my workouts are not getting results, I do high impact interval training.  It only takes about 25-30 minutes (including warm up and cool down) and works for me.  You can find sample workouts if you google HIIT.

  • do something different every day - if you don't belong to a gym (i don't), you could run one day, do a dvd the next, bike the next, or walk, swim, etc. i have a free weight collection that i use along with resistance bands for strength training. i usually can tell when i start to get bored because i'll tend to skip workouts, so i change everything around.

  • maybe you could also try P90X...you do something new every day!  it totally kicks your butt though, but you can really do it at your own pace so i think that as long as you are somewhat athletic.

  • You could try TurboFire. It is a workout dvd, but it is a series of dvds, so you do a different disc everyday of the week. There is a schedule to follow to show you which disc to do that day. I've been using it for almost 2 weeks, and I really enjoy it. It involves HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) that iamjoesgurl suggested.
