Morning or Night?

Is it better to work out first thing in the morning or after work?
I've heard cases for both sides and I just don't know which one truely is more beneficial to do!

I've heard cases for both too. But what I do remember reading is that what ever time of the day you are most likely to stay "consistent" with, that "is" the best time of the day...

i've heard of cases being made for switching the time you workout throughout the week - so that your body doesn't adjust. however, i say if you can only work out at 6:30pm every day, then do it. i work out at 4am on week mornings and later on the weekends, because i find that there are million things that could happen after work and get in the way of my workout, but other than sleep, there isn't much that could come up at 4am! lol

  • for me it tends to work best whenever I can be consistent. rarely mornings, sometimes midday (lunchtime), often evenings (after work).
  • we usually work out right after we get home from work... although i'm finding that i'm getting really restless while trying to fall asleep at night, so i think my evening workout ritual might be throwing my internal clock off. i'm debating trying to exercise in the morning before work, but i have a bad feeling that i won't wake up... i'm a notorious snooze-er. :P

in any case, it looks like it's a combination of personal preference and how your body reacts to it.

I think if you're not giving yourself a gap of a few hours between workout and bedtime that could be a problem since your body is still riding the endorphin high. Also cut back on any sugar or caffeine after you workout may help too. Waking up early to workout isn't easy by any means but once you give yourself enough time to adjust 1-2 weeks it will seem easier.
