Lost 16 Pounds in 4 months

I have lost 16 pounds in 4 months, just watching my calories. I am intaking 800 to 1000 Calories a day and working out at the gym 4 times a week. I do treadmill for 45 mins on incline of 12 at 4.0 speed and burn 400 calories a day on that. Then lift weights on my arms and legs everyday. On Friday Saturdays and Sundays I eat whatever I want and drink Budlight. I have reached my goal weight and going to lose about 3 more pounds to be what I use to be.

As I said below, unless you under 2 feet tall, and weight less than 40 lbs, that amount of calories is dangerously low.  You are doing serious harm to your metabolism by eating that little.

16 lbs in 4 months could have been achieved by eating a normal, moderate amount of calories all week.

  • Ditto what the above posts said. I really encourage you to increase your calories to at LEAST 1200 a day. Your body requires this to run efficiently. In the long run you are doing harm to your body and will not be able to maintain the weight loss. Please increase your calories and if you have any questions on helathy food ideas feel free to ask, the ladies on this board are great! :)
  • There is no way you have to eat 800-1000 calories a day just to lose 4 pounds a month.

I've lost 40lbs so far and never did I have to drop that low.

  • It is best to lose weight using a combination of diet and exercise. One pound of fat is equal to 3,500 calories. To lose one pound a week, you'll need to create a caloric deficit of 500 calories per day. This means that you either cut out 500 calories from your diet or burn 500 calories with exercise, or some combination of the two. If you want to lose two pounds a week you need a caloric deficit of 1,000 calories per day

  • Uh, Rip? Did you read that article?

"The minimum amount of calories anyone should consume is roughly 1,500. If you eat less than that you risk putting your body into a starvation mode, which actually hampers your weight-loss efforts. You also risk gaining weight rapidly once you resume eating a normal amount of calories."

  • I'm just reading through the old messages as a newbie here and while 16 pounds in 4 months sounds crazy it really isn't. She could have done it without that low of diet and it will mess with your metabolism.

I started on new medication in Feb and dropped I believe 14 pounds in 2 weeks. I have not gained any back and in fact since Feb am down 22 pounds. I quit working out because my body was like WTF are you doing? lol

Sometimes I eat a lot in a day and other days I will hardly eat anything. I drink pretty frequently and don't always make great choices food wise. I can't help mine (all my meds speed up my metabolism but make me full quickly and not hungry half the time). I will say when I dieted before I always kept my calories around 1500 a day and worked out like 6 days a week for 2 hours. I hit a major plateau and the other poster was right I put weight on immediately when I started eating regularly again.

    Just my input :)
