from diet coke to water...

Hey girls I have not been on here in a bit but has anyone else noticed that something as simple as stop drinking diet coke (yes i said diet coke with zero caliories) helps lose weight? I stopped a week ago and already my cloths are super comfy and ive lost like 3pnds...i have done nothing different except stop drinking diet coke ... sometimes little changes we do not know matter make a big deal ..btw i had heard this before but thought it was bogus since well it is zero caliores but i think it works!

HTH... Evelyn

Re: from diet coke to water...

  • Soda is generally high in sodium, and the carbonation can cause bloat.

Glad you made the switch!  Its the little things that can make a difference.
  • ditto chelsea - i've heard that too. also, from what i remember, diet coke has a decent amount of sodium (amazing, huh?) so it could be water weight as well. either way - it's not great for you, so congrats on cutting it out!

  • I'll jump on the bandwagon.  I started getting migraines again (I used to have them all the time) when I drank coffee.  I decided to switch from coffee to Diet Coke about 2 years ago... seemed to help, but I had way more sweet cravings.  I gave up DC for "Lent" (I'm not Catholic, but everyone else gives up something so it's easier to stick to it!)

Now, I have an occasional pop/soda and I feel so bloated and icky.

Stick to the water!  I always have a little bottle of lemon juice in the fridge too; seems to help keep me from getting bored.
  • I am trying to cut back on the Diet Coke, but my problem is I don't drink coffee and need some caffeine mid-morning for sure1 Maybe if I drink less, those cravings will g away too!  Myproblem is I cannot drink water that much.  If I have a bottle of water on my desk it will sit there most of the day.  I used to use those Crystal Light packages, but I assume those re just as bad as Diet Coke since they are so much sugar...anyone have suggestions on what, other than water, to drink during the day?

  • Congratulations to all of you who have kicked the Diet Coke addiction! I have tried in the past cold turkey but have only given myself headaches. Over the past year or two I have noticed my teeth aren't as white as they used to be... I'm not a coffee drinker so I'm have to blame it on the acid in the two DC I have each day. I really want to kick this habit so I think I might just try to wean myself off - I guess one a day and then maybe half a day until I can stop alltogether. ---- Just curious how all of you got off of the Diet Coke; did you do it all at once or slowly? I don't think it's the caffiene I'm addicted to, maybe the "fizz" - I guess I just like how it fills me up when I'm eating, if that makes sense.
