Alright ladies. I started counting calories about a month ago. I had previously lost about 25 lbs on South Beach Diet and have kept off the weight, but I still haven't been feeling in my best shape. Lo and behold, I was hardly consuming 1000 calories a day. I read some articles and thanks to some posts on here, I realized if you're eating less than 1200 calories, you're, by definition, starving yourself. Suddenly it made sense to me why my sisters can eat and eat and not gain a pound and why I can't lose a pound more. My body has been storing everything as fat! Grrrr...
So now that I'm making sure I consume close to my 1700 calorie goal (sometimes adjusted to 1400 if I don't do any exercises), I've been steadily losing a pound a week and my waistline proves for an even better result.
A friend of mine recently started Weight Watchers and commented yesterday that she was curious as to how my diet would compare to WW points scale. So what the heck. I added it up. Weight Watchers says I should consume about 30 points according to my friend. Well I've been consuming anywhere from 35-42 the past few days.
Now, I'm not changing my diet. I'm not on Weight Watchers and what I'm doing seems to be working for me. I'm just curious if any of you have tried both methods of "dieting" and if you had any opinions one way or the other based on your experiences! I figure this topic could satisfy my curiosity and perhaps give some of the new girls some tips on healthy ways to lose weight!
