Getting in Shape

quick diet

I'm getting married in three months and have not had motivation until now to lose some weight. I don't need to lose much, but some. Maybe 20-30lbs. I need some advice on what to do for quick weight loss and toning my arms. Any ideas? Can this be done in three months?

Re: quick diet

  • 20-30 lbs is a lot to lose in that amount of time.

That said, I am looking to lose 20 lbs by my Sept 18th wedding.  I have already lost 42 lbs in 5 months on atkins and working out vigorudly 6 days a week.

I would suggest South Beach or Atkins for quick slimming but long term you'll just need to have a balanced, healthy diet and be active.

Use weights to tone your arms- and not 10 lbs- go for 20+ to really build muscle and definition.

Healthy, sustainable weight loss happens at a rate of 1-2 lbs per week (or about 1% of your body weight), so, assuming you have 12 weeks, you could lose up to 24 lbs, but you'd have to be VERY strict, eating within your calorie range every day and exercise regularly.

There is no trick to make weight loss quick, at least not make it quick and keep it off.

  • I agree with PP, depending on how much you need to lose overall 20-30 can be a lot.  It took me 6 months to lose 20lbs which has brought me to just the top of the healthy weight bracket for my height.  This was done with calorie counting + exercise.  I highly recommend counting calories.
  • The book "Making the Cut" by Jillian Michaels not only has workouts but a diet to follow as well. I feel great cutting out a lot of processed foods from my diet
