Getting in Shape

Question about changing work schedule for other morning people out there.

In college, when I was thinner, I would get up early in the morning (between 6:00-6:30) and go for a jog. I really enjoyed working out early in the morning before everyone else woke up, or late in the evenings when I could have the gym to myself. Of course, as a college student w/ a class & partime work schedule, my day would end early anyway so I could get errands/chores done in the afternoon.

Now I'm working my 8 hours a day. I'm lucky enough to work in an office that is open from 7:00am to 6:00pm. Our office is required to have a certain percentage of people there 'til 5pm. We are all required to have a  set schedule within that time period, but my supervisor doesn't particularly care when we do our 8 hours, as long as we don't get to work super late and as long as we're not part of the percentage that has to stay til 5. I'm currently working one of the coveted earlier blocks, but it's too early for me to be able to get to the gym in the morning, and too late for me to be able to go right after work before dinner. I'm contemplating asking to be moved to the 9-5:30 block so that I can have plenty of time to get up, get to the gym, come home, shower, etc before work so that my workout is done in the morning and when I get home I can just relax. Of course, that means no more leaving early when I need to on days to meet w/ wedding vendors, run errands, etc.

So to all the other morning people out there - do you find it better to get to work early, get that part of your day out of the way, and work out later in the evenings? Or do you think it's better to get your work out done early and stay later at work?
