Should I lose weight?

So, here I am having a little bit of a weight dilemma. lol.  I'm getting married in April of next year and my dress is in.  Of course, they always order it a size bigger than what your measurements are.  When we ordered it, I had recently lost some weight but since then, I have gained some of it back.  Tried on the dress, and it fits absolutely perfect.  Not too tight, not too loose...I can sit down in it fine, and take a breath without worrying it's going to pop (too much anyway lol).  But at this point, I don't know if I should just try and maintain the weight that I'm at or if I should try and lose a few pounds as a "just in case" kind of thing.  I know I have plenty of time to do it in and I think even if I just lose 5 lbs or around there I would still be okay.  Any input?

Re: Should I lose weight?

  • This is a lame response, but really just do whatever you will be happiest with! If you don't like the way you look at your weight, go ahead and lose some (just remember that the cost of alterations can add up!) If you feel fine with the way you look and feel, then don't bother actively trying to lose.
  • i would say ditto the pp - if you feel like you'd be happy working on losing some weight, then i say do it (they can always take your dress in), but if you feel comfortable where you are right now, then don't feel pressured to lose... too many brides do! good for you if you're comfortable with your body as-is :]

  • I dont think you should be deciding on losing weight based on your dress.  If you are not at a healthy weight, and want to lose, do it.  If you are happy and healthy at the weight you are at now, then don't.  You can't base a health decision like this on one outfit.
  • Your dress can be altered at least two sizes in and two sizes out. I say tone up love!

  • Do it for your health, if you need to, and not because of your dress.  As a PP said, you can usually take in the dress two sizes without ruining its integrity.
