ooooh....well.  I'm glad the hair is good....I don't have any advice for the make-up, I'm thinking I'll be doing my own.  I was a MUA for over two years with Merle Norman, but it would be super nice to have it done...lol.

I don't know how the whole MUA contract thing works, so I may be way off base here - but if I paid for a TRIAL and didn't like the look, then she would keep TRYING until I did like it!  I'm not going to pay everytime I don't like what she does - since that's the whole point of the trial.  I agree with bsn in the previous post - see if you can just do hair with this lady and do make-up with MAC

Also, any pics of your hair trial?  I would love to see.

I think that you should see if she'll refund any part of it and tell her that you found someone else to do your make up.  I think that if you have proven results from someone else, then you shouldn't chance it with someone who's let you down once.  Its your day and your make up... and it's something that you're picky about... go with the person that did it the way you planned it!  That's just my .02!

I agree with Lacey.  Also, I wouldn't be willing to book with anyone who wasn't able to listen to my requests and accomodate during the trial.  That is the purpose of it.

    i'm such a push-over :(

Yes, I agree that you should try to get a refund on the make-up part at least.  She didn't listen to you the first time and won't show you that she can do it the way you want it.  I really wouldn't trust her the day of your wedding.

    So, I think I'm confused.

You signed a contract with her even though you weren't at all happy with your makeup and she wasn't going to do anything about it unless you paid for another trial?

    Is that right?

at the end of the first trial we set up the second trial. in order to book the date and make sure she was available, i had to sign a contract. i was worried that i might not find anyone else that day to come to my house and i felt like she understood when i left. like i said... i'm a real push over and hate to be difficult or tell people no, or lets wait.... i was really pissed and upset and just signed the contract out of haste. i regretted it when i got home. but i feel good now about the hair. just weird about taking a chance that this time my makeup will be like i want. the pic i showed her was the same style as the first one.

I wouldn't trust her for my day.  I did 3 make-up trials with my MUA because I didn't like the first 2.  I say unless somewhere in the contract it says something about her only doing 1 trial even if you aren't happy then I would tell her no you didn't want to listen the first time and do what I want and unless you are willing to listen and give me the look I want I will be going elsewhere.

Also as pp said just go with MAC!  How much was your deposit for the MUA that won't listen?  If it wasn't much and MAC does it for free with a purchase or $50 without a purchase it maybe worth it just to lose the deposit and go with MAC either way.  Stand up to her and demand a refund first though!!!

Ok, well since you are stuck with her I suggest having your makeup done early... just in case it has to be re-done a few times to get it right.

I agree with Tiffany - or if it could possibly fit in your budget, pay for a second trial - just for peace of mind.  Plus, that will be one less stressor on your wedding day.

    Bridget-

I'm sorry your makeup still didn't go very well, but I'm glad your hair went better!

I would definitley have her get there early and do your makeup, in case you don't like it and it needs to be re-done. But since you're very simple when it comes to makeup, have you thought about bringing everything just in case you're very unhappy with what she does, and you need to do your own makeup at the last minute? I know that wouldnt' be optimal...but it would be better to be prepared, than to be really upset that you don't like your makeup!

Uhhh.... Wow! The mom... I don't know what to even say about that...

I still think that it's worth the piece of mind to go with the MAC MUA!

    i know right!
again, the MUA would have to come to my house and early! i have to be ready before 11am and i live way out, so going to anywhere is out for me... which is why i booked someone to come to my house in the beginning. the joys of living in the country!!!
