Did/are you doing the newspaper announcement for your engagement or wedding?

We're not doing one, but I was wondering who has/is.

My Mom insisted in putting a wedding announcement in our local (very small town) paper.   I didn't really care and it is free there, so she did it.

I couple hundred bucks I believe....

We never even consider doing one...they are kind of outdated IMO

Yea I don't know too many people who read the newpaper.... Most people I know do it online now. I didn't think it was worth it. Plus why do I want a bunch of strangers knowing I'm getting married too?

No.  My mom still wants to put one for the wedding in our small (teeny, tiny) hometown paper.  Meh.

I have never wanted one and in seeing the posts I'm definitely not going to put one out. Everyone who needs to know I'm getting married will know. I don't think we're going to put one out in FI's town paper because he has the same thoughts as me on it.

I put engagement announcements in.

For my small hometown newspaper, it was free. I just liked the idea that someone I knew there remember me. Plus I wanted to give my parents something, since the wedding isn't at home, so I did the traditional "Bride's Parents Are Pleased To Announce..." wording. (They bought like 20 copies of that day's newspaper, and neighbors and friends were bringing over THEIR copies of the paper for weeks afterword. I love it!)

Since I did it for me and my parents, I put something in here too for FI and his parents (who are all from this area). I would've felt guilty otherwise, but I wasn't thrilled with the prices here. I thought it was free everywhere ... silly me.

We'll be putting one in the Lubbock Avalance Journal since it's free there. I'm not sure about the Fort Worth Star Telegram. My mom said she'll do it, but it doesn't matter to me. (Probablly cus I'm an only child and she likes saving newspaper clippings of events like this).
