NWR - Washer/Dryers

I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to picking a washer and dryer. We're moving to a bigger apartment, which will finally have washer/dryer connections so I want to start my research.  Any help or suggestions on brands, styles, or good cheap places would be great! Thanks ladies!

We have had a Maytag Legacy Series for about 5 years now.  DH did the research on this for quiet some time and chose it because it was Maytag and he wanted a steel or porcelain drum (?) rather than plastic because it lasts longer and prefered a front loader but the price difference was a lot so he just went with a top loader with a steel drum.

Do you know if you have an electrical connection or will it be gas?  That may narrow down your choices some

ETA: When shopping, don't discount the mom and pop stores.  We bought the washer and dryer through Home Depot but with our stove and fridge, we went with a local family business because they were not much more expensive and do their own repairs on their products in addition to a smaller delivery fee.

I'm biased cause my dad owns a Maytag store, but I love my Neptune front load washer & dryer set. Keep in mind if you do own a front load, to keep the door open after you're done running it. It can get a mildew smell in there otherwise. I run an Affresh tablet once a month through a cycle though to keep it pleasant.

I'm not so good with the advice... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

My father has a front load and we have never had an issue with the smell, so when I was doing research and looking at reviews I was really shocked at how many people said there was a smell. I hadn't ever experienced that, but I'm also hearing to keep the door open after use. That's good info!

As far as I know, we will have an electric dryer hook up.

I've gotten LG, Maytag, Kenmore, and Samsung. I think I just about got a recommendations for every brand of top loader washers! Ahhh, so many decisions.

What sizes do y'all have? I tried to google what 4.0 cu ft means in terms of amount of clothes and it was a convoluted mess. Help!!

I usually base my big purchases on this website: http://www.consumersearch.com/washing-machine-reviews

    That's why I went with LG. :)

Oh, Angela thanks for that sight! I needed something like that. When I googled washer reviews I got loads of them (pun intended) and they all seemed a bit biased.

We recently got a front load LG washer and dryer. I love them, but my only complaint with the dryer is that it is not as great at trapping the pet hair and lint. Other than that they are wonderful!!
