Substitute flower for purple Anemones??

Hi ladies my wedding in on June 1st and my florist said most likely they cannot get anemones.  I have my heart set on purple anemones in my bouquet them. Does anyone know a flower in season in late spring or early summer to replace it..besides Lisianthus, rose or carnations?

  • I am not sure what type of wedding you are having but you can get calla lillies, gerbera daisies, freesias, lilacs, hydrangea,.... the list goes on and on. If you really want the anemones try the "real touch" kind if they have them and you don't mind flowers that aren't real. Here is a website that will give you more ideas for flowers.

Purple lisianthus will substitute just fine....a little larger than the anemonie but it will work. If you have to have the black center, very carfully spread the petals and glue a black gem about the size of a penny in the center.   we use this all the time when anemonies are not available

and FYI you can get anemonies in june.
  • I agree about the lisianthus. The color will be the same. I can get anemones in Denver in June, so I'm not sure why your florist can't get them. The other flower that comes to mind is a ranunculus. They come in a rich purple, too. I would suggest calling around to another florist or two, as anemones are absolutely going to be findable.

  • Thanks! I'm going with Lisianthus, hydrangeas and freesia
