Boutonnières & Bridesmaid Bouquets

Are the groomsmen/usher boutonnieres supposed to be a flower from the bridesmaids bouquet?

I am looking at having hydrangea bouquets and rose boutonnieres but my florist mentioned that they should "match"

My bouquet is roses & stephanotis.

Thoughts?

you can have what ever you want. Match the color or flower. Sometimes it depends on what flowers are being used. Hydrangeas do not work as bouts...they will wilt out...so maybe freesia would be a great alternative. I did a wedding of all hydrangeas this weekend in white blue and green. Girls dresses were a periwinkle,we used agapanthus blooms to match the color of the girls dresses.
For your groom, tho I would choose a rose or the stephanotis. rose being the average most chosen flower, whereas the steph is very classic and more unusual.
