Red flowers for a September wedding? Not roses?

The florist I met with basically told me my only option for my bouquet of red flowers are roses. I'm not a fan of roses, are there any other flowers that would make a good bouquet? Thanks!

Sure, there are several good choices of of red flowers.

Gerber daisies, carnations, zinnias, dahlias, rannunculas, poppies, anemones, and there are reddish callas and alstromerias.

The reddish Callas are great.  If your florist only knows roses, I'd find a new florist.

    In addition to Catwoman.

Red alstromeria (peruvian lily) or Asiatic Lily(kind of burnt orange/red).

If your florist isn't giving you other options it might be a budget thing or maybe you just have separate visions. Either way I would run the choices on this thread by him/her and see what they say. If the florist doesn't seem to want to cooperate it might be time to look around a little more.

I too am doing red in September- and I'm not a fan of roses. I'm having red dahlias with white hydrangeas. You dont have to do the hydrangeas though... if you bundle together the dahlias I bet they'd look lovely. Plus they're a pretty inexpensive flower- particularly in comparison to roses. And I agree- if your florist says you can only do the roses, perhaps she's either not that good or not that nice in trying to get you to go with expensive flowers... I'd look elsewhere.

My wedding is in September, and I'm having red gerbera daisies.

I would think about finding a new florist if all she is willing to work with are roses.  They are so many other options!
