Out of Season Flowers

I love the idea of using sunflowers in my wedding. However, I'll have a spring wedding, and sunflowers are in season in late summer. The florist says it's not a problem, we've given her heads up enough that she can just grow them instead of having them shipped in.

My mom feels that even if this is not considered to be tacky, it might still be seen as out of place since sunflowers are more common later in the year. I don't have my heart set on sunflowers, I love calla lillies and daisies just as much.

I was just wondering about everyone else's opinion? I know it's my wedding and I can have whatever flower I want, but I was just wondering if you were to go to a wedding with out-of-season flowers, you would notice?

If you want sunflowers go for it. No one is going to comment at your wedding sunflowers are out a season. They will talk about how nice they look in your wedding. I wouldn't worry about it.

I always thought that people considered out of season flowers a status symbol because it means that you spent extra.

You can have any kind of flowers you want/can afford, and any colors no matter what time of year it is.  It's not a big deal.

Who is even going to notice they are out of season? I surely wouldn't! Go ahead with the sunflowers :)

Unless alot of your guests are florists or gardening experts, they will not notice if your flowers are in or out of season!  Go for it.

I have been considering using Bridesign.com, and they have sunflowers available year-round.  They ship directly to you - just a thought.

    Happy Planning!
