Going from grocery store to grocery store?

I'm trying to figure out what to do for my reception flowers. Is it a bad idea to go from grocery store to grocery store to purchase flowers Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning for a Saturday night wedding? I have purchased flowers to put in my home that look gorgeous for five or more days. It's just-- I am just not sure how much to get and I have seen wonderful flowers at places like Albertson's, even. I want to be able to see them myself and get a variety. My vision is red roses in main milk glass vases, but with smaller milk glass vases with completely varying types and colors of flowers. So, no true specific type in mind, just what "looks good"..... bad idea?
Disclaimer: Please excuse the above comment. I'm probably freaking out because there is less than one month to go. Thank you.

I don't think it's a bad idea. Some grocery stores have beautiful flowers and I'm sure you could find what you're looking for. The only thing I would worry about would be the flowers looking a little rough if you buy them a couple days before the wedding.

Amber did you try Market Street?  I had thought about doing this for my rose petals.  I was going to be at my hotel on Thursday for my Saturday wedding and figured it would be no problem to swing by Kroger to get my petals.  I ended up ordering them online and thank goodness I did because I was so busy those last 3 days, I had no time to do anything outside of what was on the schedule.  I can't imagine having to go from store to store, not to mention that there is a possibility you won't find what you want.

Renee got her roses from Sam's and was very happy with them.  If you wanted to stick with just roses, this is what I would suggest.  BTW, I LOVE the idea of red roses in milk glass!

If you really want to do it this way, I suggest doing a trial run.  Invest the money and figure out exactly what you need/want and how much ahead of time.  That way, all you have to do on the wedding weekend is GET the flowers and assemble them, instead of having to stand there and figure out how much you need and what you want on top of it.

The floral department in the grocery store can order your flowers as well. If you need 30 dozen, discuss it with the floral manager. They can do it and that way you don't run the risk of walking in the day off to no or gross flowers!

One of my BM's sisters did that. The day of her wedding the family picked them all up from various grocery stores and made the stuff up. I wouldn't suggest waiting till the day of to do that, but your plan sounds like it could work as long as you know that they will have the right flowers in stock. Have you talked with the store florists about this? Like pp said, they could probably order you some.

I would go to one grocery store or florist  and see if you can order them ahead of time and if they will give you a bulk price. I've also seen favorable things posted on TK about Costco flowers. I can just see the few days before your wedding turning into a nightmare because you can't get all the flowers you need. Not only that, but gas and time are expensive these days. You may not save that much and will end up creating a lot of work for yourself.
