Flowers

Flowers at reception (other than centerpieces)

We are having a heavy hors d'oeuvres receiption for 2-3 hours (not extremely formal). Other than table centerpieces, what other flowers are usually at the reception? Do we need an arrangement for the food table and favor table? I'm sure we'll do something on the cake table, but just curious about the others. Thanks.

My facility "strongly recommneded" getting a nice/large floral arrangement for the stationary hors d'oeuvres table.  We are doing the typical cocktail hour with butlered hors d'oeuvres, prob just one stationary table and then the formal reception to follow.

I plan on having an arrangement in the powder rooms, on the dessert table/ cake table, guest book table, escort card table and on tables outside on the patio at my venue. I'll have to see if there is one needed on the hors d'oeuvres table. We'll do simpler arrangements for the tables outside (probably just one flower in a small bowl) as well as in the powder rooms.
That being said, I don't think it's necessary to have flowers on the hors d'oeuvres table and dessert table. Especially depending on how it's set up by the venue. If flowers would get in the way of guests getting food, I wouldn't bother with them. Also, if your venue does a good job setting up the dessert and hors d'oeuvres tables, they may be pretty enough on their own.

    We only had centerpieces.

I have seen arrangements for buffet tables, escort car tables, the bar, cake table, on the cake, in the bathroom, etc.

Thanks for the advice. I suppose this is definately one place to scale back if you want!

You can really have flowers (if you wanted and could afford it) everywhere: bar, cake stand, guestbook stand, DJ, etc.  I will just be having centerpieces because the room I have does not really need more than that (and I'm on a small, tight budget).
