IS THIS QUOTE TOO HIGH? PLS ADVICE

My florist gave me a quote for $250 per table without the vase for an arrangement of peach roses and philanoepsis orchids. Is that too much? My budget is 150 per table, and she says the arrangement will definitely be much much smaller. What do you all think from experiences. (our discussion was also 85% roses and 15% orchids peeking through the arrangement.)  SEE ATTACHED PICTURE FOR SIZE AND DESIGN IDEA.

It's actually a good quote.  Phalenopsis and cymbidium  orchids are very expensive and are both large bloom orchids.  The only large bloom orchid i see in this picture is in the top middle of the roses, the pink bloom.  The flowers that are cascading out of the arrangement are more likely dendrobium orchids if they are orchids at all. To help the cost, ask your florist about the price difference by using dendrobiums, they are MUCH less expensive and will give you this look better than phalenopsis. :)

I am a florist and that does not seem excessive.  If you have a budget of $150 per table I would suggest you tell the florist and order a sample of what she can do for you within that range and style .

Phalenopsis sprays are very expensive flowers..about $50 each at least.  You might need to work with dendrobiums instead.

Champagne taste..so you will need to work with your florist to stay within your budget .

Aww thanks a lot ladies! I would look into the dendrobium orchids which are not as bad i guess, thinking about it now, they are smaller than the philanaeopsis so it might be better in terms of them peeking throught the roses. thanks for your input!!

That's about what I was quoted adn as others have said, those orchids are what's driving the price up.  There small, medium and large Cymbidium orchids (number of blooms range on stem) and I was quotes $50-$100 per stem.  The demdrodiums aren't as small as they look in the pictures (the orchids used to garnish plates and make leis).  You can try looking at other florists, DIY, or change the flowers to give you a similar look in your price range.

In addition to being costly, phalaenopsis orchids are very fragile and bruise easily.  Sometimes even with just a single touch, it can brown or tear.  The florist would be working extremely delicately and that may be increasing your labor costs.
