DFW venues

Hi ladies! I am fairly new to the knot and starting my wedding planning! I have a couple venues in mind and was wondering if ya'll have any input/extra venue information?! Right now I'm looking at:
1. The Tribute in the Colony
2. Ashton Gardens-Denton
3. The Milestone-Denton
I'm planning on 150-200 guests, probably marrying in a church, and want an open bar. Any suggestions?! Or recommended venues? Thanks!

I would've had my reception at the Tribute if they weren't booked on my day.  Also, Lauren is having her wedding there, and I'm pretty sure she's had good experiences with them so far.

We're getting married at the Country Abbey in Justin. It's an all in one venue. They do EVERYTHING (decorations, vendors, etc). They're so wonderful and friendly and accomodating.  It's awesome. The venue is an old church from the early 1900's, so we are marrying in the chapel, then they have a place for the reception. It's reasonably priced. We are having about 150 guests.

I went to look at Ashton Gardens because they wouldn't give me a price quote over the phone and that was a waste of my time. Sure the property was gorgeous but the price was WAY over budget. I believe I was quoted in the ballpark of $10K for the rental on a Sunday, catering, and minimal decor.

I love pictures I've seen of The Tribute.  I think Heather/Buttercup was married there also.

Ashton Gardens was just coming on the radar screen while I was planning.  I drooled over it initially but as I started learning more, I realized I really didn't want to have my wedding at a venue that is only a wedding venue and nothing else.  But that's just me.

I haven't heard of the venues in Denton, but I am getting married at the Tribute!

I will admit that it's a bit more expensive now then when we booked, and I'm very thankful that even though the old coordinator (Erin) left , the new one (Bethany) has been amazing, honoring everything that we agreed upon with Erin (most of which was in emails).

If you have any particular questions about it, let me know!!

Agreed with the comments about Ashton.  I had to plead, beg, and threaten to get a price quote sent to me and they were way, way, way, way out of budget.  I didn't even make the trip - not wanting to fall in love with a place so expensive.

I had the same experience.  I was quoted 8K(+) for a midnight ceremony on a Saturday night for 75 people.

wow, I didn't imagine Ashton Gardens to be that expensive! I fell in love with it as well and have a meeting on Wednesday. Better keep my guard up when I go b/c prices sound ridiculous!

I want to book a visit to the Tribute. llc2011 do you know if they'll let you bring your own alcohol or catering? I got info on the packages and they aren't too bad. I just wish they had a 4 hour bar with more choices.

I still have E-mail with pricing from Ashton Gardens.

For a Satuday evening, the minimum is $19k.

For a Saturday afternoon, it drops to $14k minimum.

For a Friday evening, the minimum is $16k.

If anyone wants me to forward this 'confidential' E-mail to them, I'd be happy to do so.  ;)  This is from January so it's quite possible that quotes will have gone up.

My wedding was at El Dorado Country Club in McKinney about 3 weeks ago, and they were amazing!!  Food was fantastic and the coordinator there could not have been better.  If you want some details just email me Tiffany618@aol.com.

Sorry, but I'm 99% sure that you have to use in house catering at the Tribute.

Wow!  I haven't seen pictures of this place, but that seems really outrageous.  I had mine at a hotel (which are notoriously pricey) and our minimum on a Saturday night was lower than all of those!  That's crazy.

One of my clients had her wedding at The Tribute! It was beautiful! They do not allow outside catering! They do have rooms so you have the option of staying overnight! Hope this info helps! Good Luck with your planing!

The Golf Club at Castle Hills is very nice and they will do anything you ask.  Must use their bar and catering.

    Lindsey--I can help you!

We looked at The Tribute too--we loved it, but we got way more for our money at the Old Red. The Tribute is awesome, but it is priced a little higher than other country clubs.

For country clubs, Lantana and Sky Creek Ranch offered good deals. Both have a max of about 175.

If you want an open bar, I'd suggest a DIY venue. The Old Red is $4k to rent on a Sat. night, and an open bar with 5 types of beer, 4 types of wine, and 4 types of mixed drinks will be under $1k because they let you bring in your own alcohol!  To have this at a country club is $25-$30/person. Our caterer is very affordable as well. I think the whole reception part of the wedding is going to be under 11k for 175 people.

If you want the Old Red, I'd book early as they fill up quick--we booked in January of 2009!

There are lots of other cool DIY venues too that allow you to bring in your own alcohol and caterer--some that come to mind are

The Filter Room or Winfrey Point at White Rock Lake
    The Colleyville Center (cheap too!)
    Hickory Street Annex
    7 Senses (www.7senses.biz)--a personal fav.

Does anyone have any information for a fairly small wedding (fifty to seventy five) in the Fort Worth Stockyards?

Wow Marissa, that's pretty reasonable for your reception! Cheap for alcohol too! So these DIY places, you basically just rent the space and then have to find your own caterer and all vendors? Sounds fun, but also a lot of work! Thanks for the information!
