Wedding Ceremony & Reception Music Discussions

is this appropriate for video?

for the slideshow we r playing during the ceremony, i used photograph by nickelback for pics of my fiance growing up. the first verse says what the hell is on joey's head, would this be inappropriate to play in the church?

A slideshow during the ceremony?  Is your church ok with that?  As for the song, many churches have very secific rules about music.  You need to check with your pastor.

I admit I'm having trouble picturing this...how long is it and will you be standing there at the front while it plays?

i guess its not necessarily a slide show. its a video of pics of us growing up using photostory software. it creates motion with the pictures and puts music to it. the church is perfectly fine with it and its actually pretty common. they also have no problem playing songs from a cd. its like 8 minutes long and will be played after we light the unity candle and give roses to our mothers. we r doing this instead of having someone sing

this doesn't sound like it would be appropriate at a church i'd save it for the reception with that song

I'd save it for the reception too.  Just seems a bit odd to have a long video stream in the middle of a wedding.  To me that makes it seem like a funeral.

my matron of honor did it during her ceremony and it was lovely. to me, i hate when people have songs during the ceremony and everyone is just kind of standing there with nothing to do, so i'm putting video to songs to make it less akward. i am going to either edit or change the song though. thanks!

It sounds like you got your answer.  Just one last thing.  I'm a singer and have sung for weddings.  Most songs last about 3 minutes.  That is a long time to stand and wait.  You are talking about more than twice that time.  Just keep that in mind as you edit!

Good luck and have a beautiful wedding.

See if you can get an edited version, if the church is fine with the regular version, and there aren't a lot of older people it would offend, stick with the original-- because each parent/friend has had that same question
