NWR - Fun activities with 10 year old today?

I have FI's 10 year old son, by myself, until Thursday. FI has to work, but I am off. What are some random things we can do during the day? I wanted to atleast do one thing every day with him. He lives in a super duper small town in Louisiana, so many simple things are very cool to him. I'm going to take him to movie tavern one day, maybe bowling.. Friday, with his dad, we are going to Gameworks and tour the Cowboy Stadium... what is something else we can do today or later this week? Doesn't have to be extravagant... Just thought I would ask you ladies for some ideas! :)

There's the FW or Dallas zoo, the Botanical Gardens in FW, the Arboretum in Dallas.  You can also take the Trinity Railway Express from downtown to downtown (Dallas-FW).  There are things to do at each end but the ride itself is actually fun.  There's the Tarantula Train in Grapevine but I think it's a bit pricey.  There are also some really great municipal pools around that have slides and stuff too.  There's NRH2O, a wave pool in Garland, Hurrican Harbor and some other water parks around as well.

Does he like baseball?  You could see if there are tours of the Ball Park at Arlington.

How about the wax museum in Arlington?  I had company down in December and they went and thought it was really neat.  I second the Hurricane Harbor idea.  What about taking him to a state park and go fishing?  All you have to pay is entrance (usually minimal) and can fish for free.  I've also heard good things about Speed Zone

The dallas Aquarium is pretty neat. There's also a smaller water park in Denton that's less expensive than Hurricane Harbor.

There's the museum or Art and Science, I know they have a whole kids section. I haven't been there in years though.

Six flags, although it's really hot..

Speed zone, off 35, would be fun for a 10 year old boy.

Why is it that I have lived here my whole life, and can never come up with cool things to do when people say they're visiting and have never been here.

Dallas really isn't as exciting as tourists think it is.

Oh, there's a Ripley's believe it or not wax museum over there by the horse race tracks.

There's the Science Place at Fair Park which is really good for kids his age.  Do you have any friends who have a child his age that you could buddy around with for a day?

You guys are great! I think the Rock Climbing could be fun, and we may go to either NRH20 or even the community center here in town has a little water park. Unfortunately, I know NO kids for him to buddy around with. :(

I may go to the FW museum tomorrow and do an OMNI show or something.

Keep them coming if you think of something else. :)

We are in a very similar situation.  We have H's 9 year old daughter all month.  I'm a teacher, so we're on our own in the day time.

We go to the movies (has he seen Despicable Me?) and go swimming quite often.  Community pools with good slides and Hawaiian Falls.

Also, have you looked into Amazing Jakes or Nickelrama or Nickelmania?  Very cool (cheap) arcades.

We went to the Science Place with her last year (and take field trips with my 4th graders) and it's always a huge hit.

She really wants to go to Ripley's Believe it or Not, so he'd probably love that, too.

There's a main event in the dallas area.  It has laser tag, an arcade, bowling, and some other fun things!

Fort Worth Museum of Science and National History/ Omni Theatre /Planetarium are in the same building right by Will Rogers in Ft Worth.   It's kind of like the Science Place at Fair Park.  It is very interactive.  I'll admit,  I'm an adult and I still love to go there.
