This is a question better asked on a local board.  This board is international, and prices (and tips) vary greatly between NYC area and Wisconsin.

Having said that, I assume you have a contract with your dj that spells out the fees being charged right?  Are you talking about above and beyond the price that you've contracted for?
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146

Ditto on asking your local board.

If your DJ is the owner of the company then I would say no to gratuity unless you feel like he deserves something a little extra.

Otherwise I think it depends on what you can afford. I have seen DJ's tipped anywhere from $50-$125 again depends on your area.

Yes, may be good to ask your local board, and I agree no tip if it's someone that DJs as a side job. If it's a bigger company, you could ask someone that works in the office. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, you could think of it like you would a server in a restaurant. If they seriously, badly screw something up, nothing; if it was decent, 15%; if it was really good, 20% or more.
