Photography question

I've been looking at photography quotes and I'm having some trouble deciding if it's necessary to have 2 photographers or if 1 will be enough. Our bridal party is small (2 bestmen, and 1 or 2 bridesmaids and there will be about 100 guests.

We're leaning toward going with one because of the lower cost but if it's a good idea to have 2 then we will try to go with that. Thanks

I think you will be fine with one--we invited 300 and have a huge bridal party, and I thought one would still be okay. Two is nice, but not really necessary

You'll cover all the big events with 1 photog, but you might not get a lot of details or little moments of you or your guests. Also, the total number of pictures will be less (obviously because you have half as many people shooting.) The second person often helps with lighting for formal pictures, as well.

I'm totally obessed with pictures, so I never considered not having two photogs. But if you're more into the videography or know you have a friend with photography talent as a second pair of eyes, then you'll be just fine with one.

If one is all you can afford, then one will be fine! You won't get all the details, but it'll still be ok. That being said, I desperately wish I had a second shooter!

As Marissa said, two is nice but not necessary. You'll be fine with one. And instead of having to get to know two photographers to get natural pictures, you only have to get to know one.

I agree!  We are just using one, but I know she will get great pictures!

I just depends on your budget/priorities.  For us photography was the biggest priority (ok maybe tied with food, but it was up there), so there was no question we'd get 2 shooters.  Most of the established photogs in the area only shoot weddings with 2 photographers.

Plus, the quality of the second shooter is always up in the air. I know people like Lynn Michelle have established, talented second-shooters, but other photographers do not. You might not be getting much for your money depending on the photographer

Marissa has a good point there.  My photogs are a married couple team, and they always shoot weddings together so that wasn't an issue for me.  But it can be an issue for some.

Pretty much along the lines of what Donna said, photography was big for us so there wasn't a question that we would have more then one.

As Marissa mentioned, with our package with Lynn Michelle we actually get 3 photographers (which we would have been fine with 2, but are so excited about the 3 since it was included) who work as a team so I don't have to worry about the talent of the second (or third) shooter.

Photography was also really important for me and so I really wanted 2 photographers. What was great about K & S Photography is that it is Karey and Shauna.  There wasn't some random second shooter so I didn't have to worry about it being a college kid or something that she pulled at the last minute.

My advice would be to have 2 photographers but I understand that budget can make that hard sometimes.  However, photography was not something I was willing to settle on because its the only thing you have to remember your wedding by.

We are using  Niji Stanley, they are a couple that works together. I am having a small ceremony and reception also, I think one photographer would work out fine. If you really want the two photographers, ask them who will be assisting. If its a college kid etc. not sure it is worth the extra money.

I had the same size wedding and bridal party and I still wanted two photographers.  For me, that was just a priority.  I could not imagine that one photographer would be able to capture everything I wanted in 8 hours alone. Ask your photographer to show you work done by their second shooters.  If it's not up to par, I wouldn't consider that photographer anyway.

Thank you for all the advice! I will definately try to get a 2nd shooter to work into our budget, I do really want some great pictures to look back on.

i only having 50-60 guests and 2 bridesmaids/2 best men, but we have 2 photographers. we are using daydream photography and the prices were awesome! (it is a husband and wife team). photos were my #1 priority, so we went with the 2. it is good because the wife will come to the house and take pics of me getting ready and my girls/mom/ stuff like that and the husband will start at the hotel with my FI and his family and then the church and then take pics of them at the church before we get there. that way no shots are lost and we don't have to choose who gets the photographer!

I know that Parker Photography is a Husband and wife team and you do not pay extra for a second photographer, You do not pay for her, but she is usually available for no charge
