Getting married on the beach - need help with music.

I am getting married on the beach and I am not sure what to do about music. I have thought about either having a small CD player or hiring a violinist. Our wedding is so small with only about 10 people. So, my initial thought was to just have a CD player since the whole reason for having it on the beach with a few close friends/family was to spend as little money as possible.
But, this is our wedding and I want it to be special. So, my question is:
Is it cheesy to have a CD player? Would it be too much to have a violinist on the beach since there is only a few people there?

Any help or advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

CD player would work, but as a musician myself, I always vote live music.

The only issue you might have with a violinist is that some players will not play outside gigs.  This is because outdoor air, especially humid air, is really REALLY bad for our instruments.  So, if you are thinking the live musician route, be sure you are very upfront about the whole outdoor thing.  You might have to make a few more phone calls to find someone willing, but in the end, I think a violinist on the beach would be very cool.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a CD player.  IMO, it's a bit ridiculous to pay a few hundred dollars for a violinist to play if you're trying to save money.

Try searching for some songs by the Vitamin String Quartet.  They will give you the string sound, and won't cost nearly as much to download and burn a CD.

I honestly think it's cheesy. If you are worried about budget, you can always have a student in a band play for you. My friend had her little sisters classmate play the flute at her ceremony and paid her $100. She was just excited all the way from that!
