Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

newbie... hello

Hello to all
FI and I have been engaged for 6 months now (Jan 2nd) and I've been watching the board since. We have just under a year now to go, date is set for June 9, 2012. We have a few of the major parts already covered. We have our venues (St Andrew Church and Marquis on Magnolia in Fort Worth) and DJ (JaBel). Now I'm on the hunt for my dress.
I had wanted to wait to start posting until I got my engagement pics back (took them last Friday), but really needed to vent in FFF... and again, I apologize for the long one
Anything else I should say?

I used JaBel this past weekend for my wedding!

I always love a good proposal story!

    How did your FI propose?

    Ah, the "proposal"...
I think FI is actually slightlyl embarrased about it now, especially after he saw the DJ wanted to maybe included it in the reception stories. it's not super exciting/romantic, but here it goes...
FI had been working the Sunday morning after New Years, and I was home just doing my 'chores'. We were texting a bit back and forth, and i'm in the middle of folding my laundry when I get one that says something like "you know i love you, and i've been looking for rings and just can't find one, so if you say "yes" we'll go ring shopping when I get off work".... yeah.... so i reply "are you seriously proposing via text?" He then called and proceded to tell me how much he had missed me (I had gone to see my family in AZ the previous week for christmas) and that it was time to take the next step, as we were already living together for a few months by then. So when he got off work, he came by and picked me up and we went to the mall... he looked lovely in his scrubs and about 5 days worth of beard, but I picked out my ring at the second store we went to, and I love it!
Like I said, not the most romantic, but if you knew FI, it was totally him... though since then, every time i hear a proposal story i get to give him a hard time about it...

    Aw - Welcome & Congrats!

HA! My proposal story isn't super romantic or anything either - but it was "us" :)
    That's what matters!
It's in my Bio if you are interested :)

I think the Marquis on Magnolia is so pretty! I'm excited to see/hear about a wedding there. Welcome!

I think that is a sweet story! :)

I love that we both share the "I was in AZ over Xmas" part of their reasoning.  Mine was worried I was taking a job out there when I went to interview Christmas week and proposed shortly after because he thought hewas losing me for good.  :(

<div>Yeah, I remember when I was still in AZ and it was getting closer to time to come back to Tx, I had texted him that I wasn't ready to leave, and he took it to mean I wanted to move back there. But as much as I love visiting my family, I have no desire to move, I've grown to love it here, along with all the friends (and FI) that I have made</div>

I couldn't handle the weather.  I was in Phoenix in December and was sweating.  No thank you.

My DH proposed in a bar by saying, "yeah, why aren't we married yet?"

He hadn't had anything to drink yet, so he wasn't at all drunk. But still. Not a story I tell all our coworkers/family members.

I think the way yours proposed is cute!
