Wedding Ceremony & Reception Music Discussions

Music, really?

I am getting married in a very small chapel and will have an outdoor lunch after.  We will be on a property that has gardens and historic homes to tour.  I do no want to worry about dancing, djs, or a band.  I will have music as I walk down the aisle but that is all.  Is a dance floor and music required?

I think that music is a must but you may forget the dance floor.  You could choose to play some soft instrumental or lounge music over speakers.
Don't forget, it's your wedding, you should do whatever pleases you and your future husband.  : )

ditto both, background music is a great idea. it doesnt even have to be hard. get a couple cheap instrumental love song cds to play in a boom box in the corner of where most people will be.

I agree with PPs.  You don't need a dance floor, but some background music would be way more ambient than silence.

Ditto PPs. You can skip the dance floor, but you should have background music. It could be as simple as hooking an ipod up to some speakers.

Background music is a must! It will help people feel at ease, will create an atmosphere, and will give your event the subtle, classy feel that weddings need. After all, a party, whether it be an all out danceathon or a formal tea, needs some sort of music to make it a party.
