    We are paying for 7 hours. I didn't even think we would need 7, but he charges a minimum for Saturdays and it's for 7 hours, even if you don't use that much time. So the guests will be able to have some background music before dinner anyway.

    All of the DJ's I contacted had packages that involved 4 hour periods (as a minimum) with extra charges for each additional hour so I just assumed that was pretty standard where we are...

    The company I used to work for generally would send a DJ out for six hours -- two hours of dinner music and four hours of dance.

    we have the Dj for 5 hrs and are paying around $1200.

    I was just quoted five hours for $700.

    Most dj's do a 4 or 5 hour price and then an additional for every hour over. We paid $500 for the first 4 hours and then $50 for every hour thereafter.

    But this is something that is going to vary with the part of the country you are in, etc.

    It also depends on the experience and popularity of the DJ. I got quotes from probably 8-10 different DJ's, and the price varied from $450-$2000.
