Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

Vacation Ideas

Good Morning Ladies,

I was wondering if any of you have any long weekend vacation recs for Oct/Nov?  We are wanting to do a Friday-Monday (or similar)...

We already went to Mexico for our HM and San Francisco in the last year.  Not interested in anywhere in Texas and we will definitely be flying, not driving.

So far all we have come up with is Vegas and NYC (after the tree goes up) but we have both been to both places.  Nashville also was a thought but I'm not sure if we would be bored with that.

Any places you ladies have been that would make a great 4-5 day weekend?

TIA!

Do you like skiing? Maybe try Denver or Utah and do a ski trip :)

My sister and I are planning to go to Sedona for a girls' weekend.  She has been there and says it is beautiful and we're going to do the whole spa weekend thing and see the Grand Canyon.  Ben's parents have also been several times.

New Orleans maybe?  Ben has been to Nashville and didn't like it much.

I don't know if you would want to spend 4-5 days there, but a cabin in Branson is quite cozy and nice. Silver Dollar City is gorgeous in the fall and around Christmas.

Savannah, GA is really nice. So is Asheville, NC. Maybe do a New England fall colors sort of thing?

If you like skiing, 4-5 days would be perfect!

What about places in Canada like Vancouver?

We went to Sandpoint, Idaho a week ago for my brother's wedding and it was the most beautiful place I've ever been.  It's a resort town and there's so much to do.  I've heard Schweitzer Mountain Resort has great skiing and is absolutely amazing.  Oct/Nov would be a great time to go too Im sure because it wouldn't be bone chilling cold.

    Edit:
We went to Denver last year for my cousin's wedding and I have to agree with PP that it would be a great place to visit as well.  There's a few wineries we went to, as well as the Coor's factory in Golden, CO (just outside of Denver).  The drive up to Colorado Springs is gorgeous as well.

    Some great ideas here, ladies!!

We have never been skiing...definitely a consideration.  We discussed Seattle and Vancouver.   I'm just not sure what exactly it is you do there.  I've got plenty of research to do, for sure!

DH can't stand New Orleans, so unfortunately that one is out.

I'm also looking at European cities.... perhaps maybe just pick one city and explore it for several days.    Ahh so many choices.

I don't know about Europe--you'll spend half the time traveling.  But it does sound romantic--a whirlwind trip to Paris maybe?

Yeah, I know the travel takes up a TON and we would probably have to extend to 6 days in order to have 4 full days in the city (which I'm SURE is still not enough)...

Hey, if we arrange it to be flying overnight though... there are no extra expenses.

I'm thinking Canada would be more feasible, but man, much less exciting!

</div><div>This is actually where I'm from, and there is a ton to do, or you can just relax.  I'd recommend Big Cedar Lodge.  It is beautiful that time of year. </div><div>
</div><div>I've also always wanted to spend some time in Maine in the fall.  Or Boston.

Looking for a little more than Branson I think.   I've been there though a few times, my Dad is a pilot and used to fly us there as a kid.  Cool town!

I second the Boston idea, I've always wanted to spend time there!

You may also wantot think about Chicago.  I lived there for 2 years out of college, and it is an awesome town!  It has a lot to do similar to NYC, but a bit cleaner and not quite as rushed.  Although, you may want to visit there in the summer it is about 70-80 degrees as the high in June/July/August.  Oct/November could be kind of chilly.

We did a 5 day trip to Puerto Rico last year around Thanksgiving time, the weather was really awesome.  If you like really isolated and off the beaten path, the little Island of Vieques off of Puerto Rico's main island would be a great getaway.

I agree with mseale... Boston and Chicago are fantastic cities, and you can definitely find enough to do over a long weekend. I will say that Boston might be rather cold (we went in Sept. and it was chilly at night) and Chicago IMO has better food!!

Seattle would be a great place to go, and again the weather wouldn't be too horrible yet. My brother lives there and is always talking about adventures they go on!  I know they have a few great skiing places!  I could always get some ideas from him if you would like!
